New Guidelines Introduced for Safer School Trips
When I complained about an issue with seatbelts disabled on a school minibus at my daughters school, they didn't seem to have a safety officer, so I would say "no". -

Prawit Visits Parliament to Sign In, Then Leaves – Misses 84 of 95 Sessions
Italy....555 “Italy’s king of absentees” by the media, reportedly stopped showing up for work in 2005 but continued to collect paychecks, amounting to about €538,000 over the years. The case came to light during a broader investigation into absenteeism in Italy’s public sector, which has had issues with “ghost employees” in various government agencies. Several managers at the hospital were also investigated for their role in enabling or failing to report the long-standing absence. -

Its too expensive I may leave
Where are you currently staying? In Bkk, Pattaya, Chiang Mai, Hat Yai? Anywhere else? If you are after better exchange rate from your cash, check out these sites. If any of their branches are within your reach. Superrich Thailand : Exchange Rates|Currency Converter | Super Rich Thailand SuperRich Currency Exchange (superrich1965.com) I presume you might have changed your money at airport/bank branches(usually offers the worst rate in any currencies). Superrich's rate is not hugely different, but at least better than the rate you mentioned. No need to be any mathematical expert for this level of calculation. That sort of western fast food is not their daily commodities. That is why it cost a lot more than their local meal(at their local diners). Also for the big brand name. Same applies to Mac burgers and Kentucky fried chickens. They are just like luxury items in Thai terms; so pricier than the traditional local eats. Does this Make Sense to you? Regarding myself, I can easily live on under THB10000(equivalent of AUD444) each month: Including monthly rent, utilities, food, and other miscellaneous. Often buying food stuff at local market(often a lot inexpensive than big supermarkets: Meat, vegetables, fruit, and sweets. Thailand also got the period of booming economy (late 1980s-2000). And it means overall cost of living rose (compared to the old days you might know about). I have no real idea about the current cost of living in Vietnam from foreigners' perspective. Unsure whether they got any retirement visa like thing either. -

Majority of Americans Urge CBS to Release Full Transcript of Harris's Interview
She may not communicate all that well at times but do you think Trump has a better grasp of economics and policy issues than Kamala. I think not. So its funny to criticise a candidate when the other one doesn't know what he's on about but is good only at making you think the opposition is bad and America is a crumbling wreck that only he can fix. Inflation policy. Tariffs policy. Child care policy. Hopeless but his fans don't care. -

Why is the MAGA movement so susceptible to crazy conspiracy theories?
All in an attempt to deal with this.(from the same artcle...... “Threats to the 2020 Election.” “Trump has made it clear that this will not be a fair election, and that he will reject anything but his own re-election as ‘fake’ and rigged,” he wrote. “On Nov. 3, should the media report otherwise, he will use the right-wing information system to establish his narrative and incite his supporters to protest.” The memo laid out four categories of challenges: attacks on voters, attacks on election administration, attacks on Trump’s political opponents and “efforts to reverse the results of the election.” Both feet blown off. -

Majority of Americans Urge CBS to Release Full Transcript of Harris's Interview
And it's showing in the historically low media confidence. Americans’ trust in the mass media has fallen to a record low leading up to the November election, according to a new survey released by Gallup Monday. Around 36% of those surveyed said that they have “no trust at all” in the mass media, while only 31% expressed a “great deal” or “fair amount” of confidence and 33% expressed “not very much” confidence, according to the Gallup survey. There's good news for old fart Dems: Democrats expressed the highest amount of confidence in the mass media being able to report news “fully, accurately and fairly,” with 54% saying they trust it, according to the survey. Age gaps also made a difference in the ratings, with 74% of Democrats aged 65 and older having a fair or great amount of confidence in the media compared to just 31% of Democrats aged 18 to 29. Not so good news for Dems (or the MSM) when the old farts die out... https://dailycaller.com/2024/10/15/trust-media-historic-low/ (Don't forget to click on the Gallup link in the article) God, it must be great living in that elder Dem echo chamber where 10x as many journalists report the news you like than report the news you don't like. It must be so much easier than living in the real world where we're confronted with news that may not conform to our wishes. -

Durian fruit falling off the tree
Hola! Sounds like the hot season really took a toll on durian trees this past year. They definitely don’t like it when the dry season lasts longer than three months since they thrive in humid conditions. Because durian trees can be quite picky, regular watering and fertilizing seem super important to get a good yield, especially if you're in a drier region. What species of durian do you have planted? Are you thinking of trying any specific methods to prevent so much fruit from dropping during next year's flowering season? -
