Richard-BKK
Hello Mike, I presume you run Ubuntu 6 on the same computer you previous had Windows installed, to get the Sony NWD-B100 (correct model?) mounted as external hard drive you need to install a package called "autofs" This package is available from the software repository, just open Synaptic Package Manager (System->Administration->Synaptic) and look for "autofs" (The list of available software is in alphabetical order so it would not be difficult to find. (Depending on what time you did the last "Reload" it would be helpful if you first reload all available packages) Also Ubuntu release 7.04 has better support for USB devices and the different chipsets, but even release 7.04 doesn't install "autofs" by default. You can upgrade to Ubuntu 7.4 online, but that involves some huge downloads, if you live in Bangkok I can give you a original Ubuntu 7.04 CD (free). phil2
It's nice to know there are other people using Ubuntu here in Thailand. Can I ask if you know of a DVIX plugin for Linux ( Ubuntu )? This is the only reason I'm still having windows on a small partition.
jackk
Have a look here: How do I install the official DivX codec in Ubuntu? There are tons of info in the Ubuntu Forum Community.
adammike
Sorry but I live in Amsterdam A mate put the ubuntu on after I had the blue screen of death. It works fine but of course the sony will only work with the software so I will keep it as it is. So I want to buy a audio player that will work on a linux only machine an I have on a external HD 100gb of music over 20,000 tracks I do not need it all on a player but 30GB is the minimum. cheers mike
