I don't cause Agoda is good. Gives the best prices.

80% of the time Agoda has the best prices in Thailand.

3 days is not long. It can take 3 weeks for the banks to correct an error. Agoda would have to check the booking details then send thru refund request to head office. The staff would be getting a 50 to 100 refund requests a day due to the size of the company so would need to process them one by one.

Airline refunds can also take weeks. I had to wait for over a month.

Agree. Have made in excess of 200 bookings with them over many years. Not once had a problem. Perhaps we've just been lucky.

I switched to trip dot com years ago as my main provider, never had an issue. Slighter more expensive than Agoda, but I value my peace of mind.

I still do a booking on Agoda from time to time though. I hated Agoda's currency conversion scam from the start.

For bookings in Thai Baht, Agoda knows I have Bangkok bank, so Agoda will propose payment through ANY Thai bank except Bangkok Bank, in order to force me into their conversion rip-off.

Just did a search using Google Maps and saw the same thing I have seen many times before. Yes, Agoda normally is the cheapest BUT the other Platforms tend to include Taxes and Fees. Once these are included, most prices become comparable. Just my two bobs.

That's correct. But if you use Agoda app there is an option to show prices including taxes and fees. Agoda often has the best last minute prices for certain hotels.

Same on the website where the user chooses whether to show the price with or without the taxes and fees.

What booking sites are y'all using, that you're getting scam sites. I open Agoda, Booking, com, Accor, and I'm immediately signed it, and has all my history. Or better, simply use their apps, though I'm not a fan of.

If the site you're using doesn't sign you in, or no history, it's a bogus site.

Booking.com has better, accurate info, and pricing (for Ibis) is usually the same as Accor.

Agoda usually cheaper, and simply add 18% if wanting the total price, or click 'book now', or info icon, if having, though I can't be bothered.

If have Thai partner, cross reference with Gmap, for PH#, check walk in rate, along with more info & reviews, photos & streetview, to check out immediate area. Proximity to restaurants / coffee shops / 7-11s.

Wife usually gets same or cheaper rate, when calling. We need to call anyway, to verify pet policy. If a pet fee, and if weight restriction, or talk our way into one that's on the fence about pet friendly.

Ive used Agoda since about 2014 - living here but working NZ/Aust on short-term contracts. No problem until this one.

This may be success (but I'll wait till $ is in the bank) of my dispute that has now stretched out over five weeks over the hotel booking they cancelled then charged me for.

Over two hours today 3-5pm with Customer Service chat - firstly I was again denied refund I just kept on - my argument based around their email stating:

Agoda is unable to confirm your booking - Booking ID: We're sorry, the booking you attempted to make recently was not completed

And now after 6pm, a response:

We would like to inform you that your booking has been canceled by the system due to a payment timeout or technical issues. The reversal typically takes up to 30 business days, depending on your bank’s processing time and policy.

Expect this is as close as I'll get to an apology.

Tell your bank and get them onto it

I've gone round in circles over this one, bank my Visa card is from (New Zealand) didn't seem too interested, Agoda didn't respond to them either. Anyhow, after an afternoon disputing the charges, now appears I'm getting the amount refunded in full - in up to 30 days! Who said computers would speed things along?

I used to use Agoda, but when I started using Apple Pay as a payment method, they didn't have that, so I switched over to Booking.com or Hotels.com. I guess they are all under the same corporate umbrella, but for some reason, the last two take Apple Pay. Maybe Agoda now takes Apple Pay, but I haven't checked lately. Anyway, as I recall, whenever I had to cancel a booking on any of those sites, the refund always hit my account the next day, even though it said it would take "up to 30 days."
