It used to be possible for foreigners with PR to legally purchase and own firearms in Thailand.

The law was changed a few years ago to restrict gun ownership to Thai nationals. I don't know whether foreigners with existing permits were grandfathered.

Correct on both points, and existing permits were indeed grandfathered.

My wife and I own a couple of guns. We got a license through the gunshop. The license was very expensive and I could have bought the guns illegally from a puyaibaan in a different province for less than the cost of the license. I gather the cops get most of the money from the license.

Doing it through the gunshop was totally painless (apart from the cost). It was not at all difficult. We are members of a shooting club. If you are used to US prices fro guns  you will get sticker shock here.....a Glock 9mm was about 4 times the US price.

And then you said."maybe you are not used to seeing them in public."

Maybe you should go back to that post and see .

You don´t understand and you don´t care to look. I have already seen to that it will be deleted.
