August 4, 200718 yr This is a pretty new festival and it is my understanding that the founder of this local festival was called in to program the recently ended Bankok International Film Festival which usually runs in January but was delayed till July. Previously, it was programmed by the Palm Springs California film festival. So I am wondering is the World Film Festival still on this year and still on for October? Their web page says nothing about a 2007 festival. The info is still about last year. http://www.worldfilmbkk.com/ Also, there were reports in the news that the recent Bangkok International Film Festival is likely the last one. Also, that the Tourism Authority doesn't want to fund it, and nobody else has stepped up either. Any update on that? While it was clearly done on a smaller budget this year, it is still a very worthy festival, and this year there were more Thai subtitles than ever. It was also very well attended. So it would be a real shame to lose either of these festivals. But they are now both really local festivals now programmed by the same person, so is there really a need for two festivals? November 1, 200817 yr How is the ticket situation, ie, are the screenings selling out like at the recent BKKIFF?
November 2, 200817 yr The outdoor screening of 'Shine a Light' tonight sounds interesting... Did you go?
November 2, 200817 yr Did you go? No, unfortunately somehow this thread completely passed me by until you resurrected it and I had something else arranged I couldn't get out of (despite my best efforts). Did you manage to catch anything there? mk
