A man has been arrested in Chumphon province for allegedly abusing his disabled sister and three children in a shocking incident that took place on October 11. The suspect, identified as Chai (pseudonym), was reportedly under the influence of drugs and alcohol at the time of the abuse.

 

The village head, Somphun Suwan, was alerted to the situation by Chai’s older brother, who could no longer endure Chai’s violent behavior. The incident occurred at their home in Songpinong subdistrict, Thasae district. Somphun immediately coordinated with the 25th Infantry Regiment’s special task force and local officials to investigate.

 

When authorities arrived, they found Chai sitting outside the house, calmly denying any serious wrongdoing. He claimed he had only used mild physical punishment on his children and that his sister, who is disabled, had accidentally injured herself by slipping in the bathroom.

 

 

However, the scene inside the home told a different story. Chai’s 12-year-old son and six-year-old twins were found huddled together, visibly exhausted and frightened. His 30-year-old sister, who suffers from a brain impairment that prevents her from walking, was found with a serious injury. Blood was flowing from her right ear, and she was immediately rushed to Thasae Hospital for treatment.

 

A drug test conducted on Chai revealed methamphetamine in his system. Police Lieutenant Colonel Wichit Samanyamuang, Sub-Inspector of Sawi Police Station, and other local authorities, including Arunee Sombunrat, Deputy Chief of Songpinong Subdistrict, and Nuanwan Watsanit, a psychologist from Chumphon’s child and family shelter, were brought in to assist with the investigation.

 

Chai was taken into custody for further questioning, while social services placed the children under temporary care. Legal proceedings are expected to follow.

 

Chai’s older brother expressed deep distress over his sibling’s behavior, blaming Chai’s addiction to methamphetamine (yaba) and alcohol for the escalating violence. According to the brother, Chai had frequently beaten his children and severely assaulted their disabled sister, which resulted in her ear injury. He believed the outburst stemmed from a misunderstanding regarding a 10,000-baht government aid, which Chai falsely accused him of taking.

 

Chai’s 12-year-old son also shared the trauma they endured, revealing that their father’s temper had worsened recently, with daily beatings becoming a norm. The child stated that he and his siblings were often slapped and kicked. He described a recent incident where Chai, in a rage, attacked their aunt, causing her ear to bleed.

 

The case is under ongoing investigation, with police working to ensure the safety of the victims and to bring the perpetrator to justice.
