N Korea Sends Troops to Support Russia in Ukraine: Seoul Warns of a "Grave Security Threat"
During the build up to the first Gulf War with Iraq all the media was on about their tanks and massive army, fourth biggest in the world, Republican Guard. And on paper it looked impressive. But they weren't Now you have an elite group of NK soldiers with pictures of them marching in perfect formation in fancy kit. Have to learn precision formation marching for display to dear leader. But does the fancy kit exist, has it been tested? where did it come from? what kind of combat arms training do they have? What are they actually supposed to be trained in, besides marching All things to be determined in the fog of battle Lots of unknowns. -

Indian Tourists Spark Outrage for Littering into Sea at North Pattaya Beach
I cannot be personally responsible for "per capita America", however I can choose my to lead my own life in a specific manner, and we are all responsible for our own actions. Personally I take a lot of actions that I believe positively impact the environment, what else can we do? And FYI, I have no shame, so it's not possible for me to be ashamed of criticizing the Thais for their astonishing indifference towards the environment. -

A Mystery $30 Million Wave of Pro-Trump Bets Has Moved a Popular Prediction Market
Polymarket is just one betting site where Trump outperforms Harris by far. You got nothing https://www.realclearpolling.com/betting-odds/2024/president https://www.forbes.com/sites/dereksaul/2024/10/17/trumps-polymarket-odds-top-60-how-election-betting-markets-differ-from-polls/ The nascent election betting market landscape is not the only financial instrument moving toward a Trump victory. Shares in Trump Media and Technology Group, the Truth Social’s parent company primarily owned by Trump, are up 86% in October, with the low-revenue social media company’s stock movement often viewed as a proxy for Trump’s election odds. And “you can see” evidence in the broader stock market that investors are “very convinced Trump is going to win,” billionaire hedge fund manager Stanley Druckenmiller told Bloomberg Thursday. -

Police Raid Two Bars in Hua Hin for Underage Prostitution, Owners Arrested
You often see something like "doing X with a minor under 15" in the news reports here. Presumably that indicates some sort of differentiation. -

David Lammy’s Push for UN Security Council Expansion Threatens Britain's Global Influence
I think that the 60% figure is an exaggeration but you make some valid points. https://www.wildlifetrusts.org/news/landmark-report-shows-uk-wildlifes-devastating-decline Imo there needs to be a balance between protecting the environment and the requirements of the economy; there is a big difference between worrying about the destruction of the Amazon rain forest and its' effects, and spoiling the view of someone living in the English shires because a housing estate has been built. The UK has always needed immigrants to supplement the domestic labour force. Controlling i.e. reducing immigration may slow economy growth. -

Thai gov. to tax (remitted) income from abroad for tax residents starting 2024 - Part II
Malaysia has explicitly listed credit card payments as coming under the umbrella for FSI (foreign source income). That doesn't mean Thailand will adopt the same ruling, but odds are they will. With fringe benefits there may not even be a transfer at all - if you're staying rent free at company owned premises, there are going to be tax implications. Which highlights that the precise method of payment is not the main consideration. -

Can I be added to my wife's national health insurance plan?
a lot of parents usually out in the provinces want their kids to get a government job for this alone, there's also the question of level of covers and what medicine/procedures are available between each scheme, social security with employee (paid) contributions often coming out worse -

Can I be added to my wife's national health insurance plan?
I'm covered under my wife's CSMBS (civil servant medical benefits scheme). My son was also covered until her turned 20, and her parents were covered (both deceased now). his is a good scheme as I can use any public hospital, and I've used several! I just usually pay a small amount for the after hours clinics. don't pay for medicine also. -

Can I be added to my wife's national health insurance plan?
My previous wife was able to add me to her company health insurance benefits. My current wife's company health insurance does not allow this.
