A 49-year-old man, identified as Mr. Rachan (surname withheld), was found dead in a bizarre suicide at his home in the village of Ta Chong, Lahan Sai District, Buriram Province. Authorities were alerted to the scene by the village headman, and officers from the Chalerm Phrakiat Police Station, along with rescue personnel, arrived to investigate.

The man's lifeless body was discovered on October 24, kneeling with his head submerged in a large water jar next to his house. Rescue workers were shocked to find that Mr. Rachan had tied a traditional pha khao ma (a local cloth) around his neck, using a brick as a weight to ensure his head stayed underwater. His body was carefully removed from the scene for examination.

Village headman Anon Detwaree revealed that Mr. Rachan lived alone and suffered from multiple chronic illnesses. It is believed that his prolonged struggle with illness, combined with the loneliness of living by himself, drove him to take his own life. The unusual method, involving the brick, may have been chosen to ensure his attempt would be fatal, fearing that merely submerging his head in the water would not be suffice.

The case is under further investigation by the police, but no foul play is suspected.
