A man was killed instantly during the morning of October 25, after his motorcycle collided with an 18-wheeler truck in Kabin Buri, Prachin Buri Province. The incident occurred at approximately 06:30 on Highway 304, near Village 5, Muang Kao subdistrict.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Nattiruj Wongsap, an investigator from Kabin Buri Police Station, was alerted by the Sajja Phutthatham Foundation to the crash, which resulted in the death of an unidentified man, estimated to be between 25 and 30 years old. Upon arrival at the scene, officers found the lifeless body lying on his front, in the left lane of the road. The victim had severe injuries, including a shattered skull, broken limbs, and his internal organs mostly exposed.

Approximately five metres away from the body, authorities discovered a black Honda Wave motorcycle with no license plate, its front wheel bent and fender broken. The headlight had detached in the collision. Further down the road, about 150 metres from the crash site, a blue 18-wheeler truck, registered in Bangkok, was parked in the left lane. Investigators found pieces of the victim's body still stuck to the left wheel well of the trailer.

The truck driver, Mr. Panya (surname withheld), 31, told police that he was en route from Laem Chabang to the Kabin Buri Industrial Estate. As he approached the crash site, he noticed the motorcycle attempting to overtake on a curve before losing control due to a patch of sand on the road. The motorbike skidded and slid directly into his truck. Mr. Panya stated that there was no direct collision with the motorbike but confirmed that the bike slid under the truck.

Upon inspecting the road, police found sand near the edge, which likely caused the victim to lose control of his motorcycle before sliding into the path of the truck. The victim's body was retrieved by rescue personnel and transported to Kabin Buri Hospital. Authorities are now working to locate the man's relatives.

The investigation is ongoing as police continue to piece together the details of the crash.

If he was attempting to overtake would he not be in the central area of the road, not the edge?

It would depend how far over he swung in order to overtake and the proportion of the roads width that has been defined as "edge" by the police.

In the meantime It is not unknown for idiots in/on (notice I am not using the term "in control of") any sort of vehicle to make excessively "sweeping" overtaking moves, even to the extent of bouncing their means of transport along the opposite verge.

Everything depends........in this case on that of which we actually know nought.
