Bangkok police conducted a raid on an illicit club in Huai Khwang, exposing a hidden third-floor nightclub filled with light, sound, and revelry, and detaining 26 Chinese nationals involved in a drug party.

The raid, led by Police Colonel Prasopchok Iampinit, Chief of Huai Khwang Police Station, with support from the Child and Women Protection Sub-Division, targeted a five-story commercial building in Soi Pracharat Bamphen 4, Din Daeng District. The authorities detained Mr. Sakorn (last name withheld), a 25-year-old from Chai Prakan District, Chiang Mai Province, who was allegedly managing the venue.

The police launched the operation following a tip-off about a clandestine entertainment venue operating without a license. Upon arrival, officers found the first and second floors under renovation, seemingly to avoid suspicion.

However, on reaching the third floor, they discovered two fully furnished rooms equipped with lighting and sound systems, where 26 Chinese patrons, split between two rooms (seven in one room and nineteen in the other), were eating, drinking, and socialising.

A search of the premises uncovered drug paraphernalia in the first room and a bag near the second room containing four zip-lock bags filled with a crystal-like substance suspected to be methamphetamine. Mr. Sakorn, who identified himself as the building manager, was taken into custody.

During questioning, Mr. Sakorn admitted that while the building was being renovated as a karaoke bar, he had secretly allowed customers to use the space due to demand, charging 20,000 baht per room. Authorities found that the venue lacked proper licensing to operate as a club and was illegally selling alcohol past legal hours.

Police have charged Mr. Sakorn with operating an unlicensed entertainment venue, permitting illegal drug use, and selling alcohol beyond the permitted hours under the Alcoholic Beverage Control Act.

The arrested individuals, along with seized items, were taken to Huai Khwang Police Station for processing. All patrons and staff members were also sent to the Police Hospital for drug testing as investigations continue.
