A rescue operation was launched for a 34-year-old hotel worker, who was saved after floating in the sea for nearly two hours after he slipped and fell from a rocky viewpoint on Ko Samui. Responders used a local’s boat to bring him safely back to shore.

At approximately 07:20 on November 6, Samui Rescue Volunteers received an alert about a man floating in the sea near Chaweng Viewpoint in Bo Phut, Ko Samui, Surat Thani Province. Emergency responders, including local police, municipal staff, and members of the Lamai Fishing Association, quickly mobilised to initiate the rescue effort.

Approximately 300 metres offshore, rescue teams in a speedboat and jet ski found the man clinging tightly to a floating container, calling out for help. He was successfully brought back to Chaweng Noi Beach. The man, identified as Mr. Sanadech Sirikan (nicknamed Nat) from Pattani, appeared exhausted, with multiple cuts on his arms and legs from the rocks. He was pale and shivering, with muscle cramps in his hands and feet due to prolonged exposure in the water and chilly rain conditions.

Mr. Chaiyaporn Subprasert, head of the Samui Rescue Association, conducted an initial interview. Mr. Sirikan, who works at a hotel on the island, explained that he had been sitting on the rocks near the Chaweng Viewpoint around 07:00, when he slipped and fell into the sea. Although he managed to stay afloat, he was unable to climb back up. Fortunately, a local passerby saw him and threw a container into the water for him to hold onto until help arrived.

Mr. Subprasert’s team promptly took Mr. Sirikan to Ko Samui Hospital for medical treatment. Local authorities are expected to conduct a more detailed inquiry to gather additional information on the incident.
