Early this morning, at around 9:20 a.m., the activists sprayed orange paint across the embassy’s walls and labeled Trump a “fake populist,” drawing attention to their concerns over what they see as corporate control in politics.

A Just Stop Oil representative later issued a statement highlighting what they described as the real winner of the election. “The only real winner of today’s election is the corporate power that controls the major parties in both the US and UK. Regardless of who sits in the White House, corporations and billionaires will ensure that the interests of the fossil fuel industry will continue to be prioritized over the wellbeing of ordinary people.” The group’s position underscores its belief that wealthy interests dominate politics on both sides of the Atlantic, often to the detriment of environmental and social issues.
