Trump Agenda Faces a Fiscal Reckoning

The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office has estimated that just continuing all of the expiring provisions would cost roughly $4 trillion over a decade, and Mr. Trump’s campaign proposals could add trillions more to the debt.

Markets and investors are preparing for higher deficits under a second Trump administration, selling bonds that could become less valuable if the government has to issue many more to finance a larger debt.

The Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget has estimated that Mr. Trump’s agenda, including higher tariffs, could add roughly $7.5 trillion to the debt over the next decade.

It also doesn't say Daffy Duck is walking back his promises. What's your point?

It doesn't say Trump or the Republican Party is walking back anything. Read the words "The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office

Your headline says: Republicans begin walking back campaign promises

You'd have to read the article. I just posted some allowed highlights. Behind a paywall, so you may not be able to read the full article.

OK. You could have made it more... to the point, shall we say, by mentioning what Trump's advisors are saying.

Just went to the article and it is paywalled as you mentioned. Not much use to me.

I originally posted much more, but that violates Forum rules, so only included relevant bits. The extended headline is Advisers to President-elect Donald J. Trump and Republicans on Capitol Hill are already looking at ways to scale back some of his more expensive ideas.

That would have been more helpful.

The same NYT that call the Hunter laptop story fake, and the Russia collusion story real.

They are lying whores that will say anything to hurt Trump and his agenda.

See you still haven't read the article. They quote Republicans. Are you claiming these Republicans didn't say what you didn't read?  🙂

The NYT and other media outlets are notorious for contorting facts. Please state exactly who what where when straight from the horses mouth as opposed to some fear mongering rag hack.

No. I am saying that the New York Times is a lying whore of a newspaper that will say anything that hurts Trump and or his agenda.

I am sorry I was not more clear the first time.

Which Republicans did they quote, what was the quote, and what was the context?

Talk about clickbait titles!

"Republicans begin walking back campaign promises"

The relevant part of the article you managed to post stated a nonpartisan group had made a report indicating Trump's proposals......the same proposals that loser Harris had also stolen and promised.......would increase the deficit.  No mention of the effect Musk taking a chainsaw to bloated government waste would more than offset this.

No-one is walking back anything.

You now claim that some are "already looking at ways to scale back some of his more expensive ideas."

Shirley, you'll be more gracious when Vance wins the presidency in 2028!

In other words, "Do better!"

All of you should read the actual article. The NYT gives non-subscribers 10 free reads/month.

If I stated some disinformation as dog's own truth, would you rush out to read it in Pravda?

What if they gave you 10 communist propaganda articles for freezies?

Continue in your blissful ignorance and keep deflecting. What does Pravda have to do with NYT?

So the OP pretends to have read the article, but is unable to answer simple questions.

They have alternate facts, aka lies.

What “facts “ are in dispute? No facts have been provided by you or the OP.

I have to agree as your article should only have been about walking back promises, not the fact that many promises might find difficulty in finding Congressional dollars to accomplish.
