NATO Allies Urged to Increase Defense Spending Rutte Echoes Trump’s Call
It is inevitable that Trump will take the USA out of NATO. There are perhaps three "takeaways" to this. 1) The USA will be left with a large fleet, including a powerful aircraft carrier force, together with a large air force. However it will lose all it's forward basing naval facilities and airbases, particularly in the Western Atlantic and Mediterranean, which will severely constrain it. 2) Europe will have to stand on its "own two feet", but will no longer be duty bound to take any part in American "out of theatre" campaigns. 3) NATO will revert to, and solely focus on, defending Europe. -

Spike in American's interest in moving abroad post election -- hot air yet again?
Wow, I actually agree with the OP / @Jingthing, who would have thought, small miracles. Agree with the blues moving to blue, and reds to red states. Just common sense really and quite easy to do. As I've lived in 6 or 7 different states, only for work, as don't care about folks social issues. Not the linked article (didn't read) as the 'skyrockets' just told me to not waste my time. OP also leaves that thought open ... how many actually would do, as not nearly as simple as state to state. Agree ... "most people are all hat no cattle" -

President Joe Biden's Historical Legacy is Ruined
It is the misogyny that is prevalent in minority communities such as the Latinx that made it impossible for us to coronate a new queen of the people.- 1

Thailand's Expats Urged to Register with TRD for Tax, Says Expert
I have absolutely no intentions of going round the houses on this as their are too many variables. " Assessable income " means income that should be reported in a tax filing and Thai tax may have to be paid. Which will be very individual specific. " Non Assessable income " is income that is excluded from Thai taxation via a DTA and no TIN or tax filing is required. Yes, you are correct. In that it is up to individuals to decide whether the income they remit is " Assessable " or comes under " Not taxable in Thailand " and the only way they will determine that is by reading the DTA applicable to the individual. Personally, I have simplified things by only remitting my UK Gov Pension ( of which there are many different types ) in 2024. Bank print-out in Jan 2025, attach P60 and Statement of future payments, stick in an A4 envelope and file in a drawer, should it be needed at some time in the future. The transfer code attached to the monthly remittance should be enough to tell the BOT, the RD and anyone else interested, exactly what, and where the remittance comes from.- 1

Pattaya parents outraged after teacher attacks 12 year old boy
A year ago my boy was verbally shouted and swore at several times by a male teacher, and hit with one of his many different show canes. After several trips to see the head brother, he was eventually demoted, after a month he was given all his privileges back. Pathetic outcome really
