Two Thai women are appealing for help after enduring sexual harassment from a neighbour in their Bangkok apartment building. The neighbour frequently strips naked, roams the hallway, knocks on doors indiscriminately, and sends letters containing explicit messages.

The women, 32 year old Aum and 66 year old Bee, turned to social media influencer Guntouch “Gun” Pongpaiboonwet for help. Yesterday, November 7, Gun accompanied them to Bang Khen Police Station to lodge a complaint against the man, whose identity has not yet been revealed.

In an interview with the media outside the police station, Aum explained that his explicit behaviour began in October of this year. The man, aged around 40, often walked along the hallway, talked to himself, shouted, and randomly knocked on the doors of all the residents.

What made the situation worse was that the man wandered around completely naked. Aum said that on several occasions, she exited her room at night only to find him naked, which left her in shock.

Sometimes, the man would write letters expressing his sexual desires and slide them under the doors of female residents.

Aum expressed her fear, saying that she lives alone in the apartment and worries that the man might forcibly enter her room for indecent purposes.

Aum added that the man was arrested once in 2021 after breaking into a woman’s room while naked. He was placed under psychiatric care but resumed the same behaviour once discharged. She called on his family to take responsibility for him and ensure he received proper treatment.

Another victim, Bee, told the media that the man borrowed her phone, claiming he lost his phone and needed to make a call to locate it. Bee allowed him to use her phone but later received unexpected calls from him. He called her several times a day, prompting Bee to block his contact.

Bee said the man was able to communicate normally and showed no further signs of mental illness, aside from his lewd behaviour. He even asked her for money but she refused to lend him any.

The superintendent of Bang Khen Police Station, along with the director of the Bang Khen District Office, promised to intervene and ensure the man receives treatment for his mental illness. As of now, there is no report confirming whether the police visited the scene to address the issue.

Wonder if the Police are considering a naked lineup of all men in the building?  Should find the culprit, and maybe a person of interest for the women?  As long as the air con isn't too fierce...

I'm not typically an advocate of violence to solve problems, but if the police won't do anything, if the building manager won't do anything, if the other neighbors won't do anything, there's are very useful tools called an aluminum baseball bat or a cricket bat, and both are very effective for addressing this kind of problem and ensuring that it will never happen again. Sometimes, just sometimes.

The risk of course is the escalatio and retaliation of an unstable mind.

She takes a baseball bat to him...   he comes back a few days later looking for revenge - thus the only way that such actions cannot be persued is that if her actions are extreme and that would be premeditated murder with legal consequences.

She 'needs a connection' someone to 'force the police' to get off their lazy backsides and do something proactive for once.

Without that, social media is the answer, but it needs to embarass the right people and hopefully this publicity does just that.

------

Separate issue:

I know a guy (restaurant owner) who had a run in with a crazy grab delivery driver...

The restaurant is popular and sometimes has many grab riders waiting for an order - one grab driver, known to the restaurant for being a trouble maker, was demanding they hurry-up, causing problems for the staff, making scenes etc.

This guy (restaurant owner) had to get involved...  but he then started receieving death threats from the Grab driver.

He reported the threads (with evidence - Phone / Line Messages) but the police ignored it, saying 'the Grab driver has not done anything yet, so they can't act'....

...  Restaurant owner, left with little choice had to pull strings, contact a friend (Police head of another district), who then made 'the call' to the local police station...   Situation resolved - the Police threatened the Grab Driver never to contact the restaurant owner again (not sure if he is even working with Grab still)...

- the point here is that the Police are extremely lazy until their hand is forced.

You left out one very important detail, if you don't have the connections which is the case with the majority of people, cash motivates the police. So if I were in her position and I wasn't going to use a baseball bat (which I would) then I would offer the police some money to take action. I've seen it work on many occasions.

Just make a recording of a very big, very angry dog barking... play it when he knocks on the door.... he won't want you to open it.

Social Media is become far more effective for this stuff...   But critical mass has to be reached for the media to spread...

Ultimately, the news networks need to pick up the story, but because they too are lazy, the scour social media and pick stuff up and run with it as a news story.

As you pointed out, paying money also works, but that precident enforces laziness...  If the guy doesn't stop, then it costs more for the Police to do more about it - Also, the womany living in an apartment block like that may not have 1000's of baht spare to hand over to the lazy police.
