There are plenty of scientists who disagree with the consensus view on climate change. Are you saying that non-scientists cannot make a judgement on which group they choose to believe?

95% of scientists accept climate change is real. Your definition of "plenty" differs considerably from mine.

There are facts, and there is belief. Making a judgment on the basis of belief in preference to facts is as daft as it gets.

100% of the scientists who deny climate change are paid to say so by fossil fuel companies.

I have always been reminded the sentiment expressed in a letter to his mother, written by Richard Smalley, anytime I hear students complain that the Social Sciences might be difficult.

Social Science is easy.

The Natural Sciences are truly hard.

(Also, much of Social Science is just, basically.....JUNK SCIENCE.)

Try taking a few grad courses at MIT Physics or Biochemistry if you think otherwise.

Most Social Scientists are nitwits...and....they even ENJOY being nitwits.....

This is why they chose Social Sciences in the first place...maybe.....

I can remember an Arts major becoming mightily offended when I said it did not matter what was submitted in examinations in his field, as long as it looked pretty.

But then, I have never been regarded as tactful.

1,960 is more than a few.

The number of full time scientists in the world is estimated to be approximately 8.8 million.1960 is piddling in comparison. I'm not one of them, I'm retired. I don't get paid anything for my views.

I suspect if the link you provided was investigated, the financial backing would be coming from the fossil fuel industry. They probably think Trump's price of $1 billion in return for freedom to drill anywhere in the US is an absolute bargain. It's a desperate rearguard action.

Your link contains the usual look over there and whataboutism. CO2 is plant food, it's a natural cycle, it's the volcanoes, etc.

Insurance companies are hard-nosed assessors of risk. Every insurance company on the planet is scrambling to price in the effects of climate change, so they won't go broke paying out property insurance claims. Pro tip: Don't buy real estate in Florida or California.

Global warming and climate change are perfect examples of the laws of thermodynamics in operation. In any scientific curriculum, thermodynamics is one of the toughest subjects that can be found. Organic chemistry is simple in comparison.

Unless one understands those laws, they are operating from a base of ignorance in any discussion.

Yes, but prostitutes in the fields of the Natural Sciences often have less need to protect themselves, using condoms, from STDs, as those in one of the old professions of them all, Astronomy and the field of Laying Flat.

That argument works both ways. The financial backing for the scientists you believe in comes from where? Mostly from governments, to promote their Net Zero narrative. Do you think they're going to risk having the money taps turned off by producing research that goes against the narrative?

If the pandemic taught us anything it's that at least 50% of published scientific research is not worth the paper it's written on.

So now you are wheeling out the character assassination.

As I said before, no-one pays me for the facts I post.

Remember what I said about the arrogance and stupidity of non-scientists?

Bye now, I have wasted enough of my time on you.

Not surprised.

Keep on Keeping on...Sir....!!!!!!!!!!!!1

This is the best and only thing that we can do...as we age....

Although....it becomes less easy....as we continue to age....

WHICH....is something...one must admit....that is entirely unavoidable.....

And you?

Not at all. In fact, till he teamed up with Trump, my opinion of Musk was that he should send a rocket ship on a one way trip to Mars ASAP and be on it.

I'll suspend my desire to see him gone till I see how he does as a Trump employee.

I don't know if you intentionally used  something that almost no one will get, but I do happen to know. It's amazing what little bits of information I hoovered up in my life actually have an opportunity to finally be of some use. Bit like the piece of wood I've been hoarding for 30 years finally got used for something.

I treated it as a BS statement and responded in kind.

To prove your allegation you'd have to find every scientist on the planet and ask them if they deny climate change, and then if they did if they were paid to do so by a fossil fuel company. That might prove somewhat difficult. That's the problem with throwing words like 100% out there and expecting everyone to believe it.

Putting an IMO or similar in there would not provoke a reaction from me, but I'm not going to allow an obviously  unprovable statement to go unchallenged.

The confusion is your allegation that scientists who are climate change proponents are funded by windmill and solar companies. Link?

I am and proud of it. My family on my mother's side are also hoarders.

Like I say, sometimes things I've kept for 30 years come in useful.

No one pays me, I would like it if they did. Which invalidates your claim.

I suspect there would be a number of retired scientists who agree with me.

Another example of the arrogance and stupidity of people with no scientific qualifications.
