A 14 year old student from a school in Nong Khai narrowly escaped more severe injury after falling from the third floor of a school building, crashing through tiles and landing on the concrete below.

The incident occurred at approximately 07:20 on November 14, when rescue teams from the Thabo District Rescue Unit were alerted to assist a student who had fallen from a classroom building at a secondary school in the Thabo district of Nong Khai. The injured student, identified only as “Tontrakoon,” was quickly transported to Somdej Phayuhasena Hospital for medical treatment.

At the hospital, it was reported that the student had sustained abrasions on his arms and legs, as well as pain in his back. After receiving medical attention, the student was allowed to return home with no life-threatening injuries.

Witnesses, including fellow students, stated that the incident occurred before classes began. They reported seeing the boy climb out of a classroom window on the third floor, then walk across the old, brittle roof tiles. The tiles were unable to support his weight, causing him to fall through the roof and crash onto the concrete below. Teachers and students immediately rushed to his aid and called the rescue unit for assistance.

The school’s administration provided no official statement, as the principal was unavailable for comment. Notably, local police from Thabo Police Station were not called to the scene. Instead, the rescue unit was the only emergency service notified. It is fortunate that the injuries were not more severe, given the height of the fall and the lack of safety measures in the area.

No need for the school to have any comment. The police have no need to be there neither. To me it looks like the boy climbed out of the window, and tried to walk on a place not designed for walking. If so, then the only comment from the school should be a demand of payment to repair.
