The Meteorological Department of Thailand (TMD) issued a weather warning for heavy to very heavy rainfall impacting nine provinces, with sea waves expected to rise over 2 metres. The upper regions of Thailand are experiencing cooler temperatures, with the northern part witnessing lows of 16 degrees Celsius (°C).

The weather forecast for the next 24 hours highlights a weakening high-pressure system or cool air mass covering upper Thailand, resulting in a slight increase in temperatures. Morning fog and cool weather are expected. With drier weather, there is also a risk of fire hazards, and caution is advised when travelling through foggy areas.

The northeast monsoon covering the Gulf of Thailand and the southern regions is weakening, leading to reduced rainfall in the south. However, in the lower Gulf of Thailand, waves are expected to reach 1 to 2 metres, with areas experiencing thunderstorms seeing waves exceeding 2 metres.

In the north, expect cool weather with morning fog, and temperatures will rise by one to two degrees. The lowest temperatures will range from 16 to 21°C, with highs of 31 to 33°C. On the mountain tops, the weather will be cold to very cold, with minimum temperatures between seven and 14°C. Winds are from the northeast at speeds of 10 to 15 kilometres per hour (km/h).

The northeast will also experience cool weather and morning fog, with similar temperature increases. The lowest temperatures will be between 16 and 19°C, and the highest from 32 to 34°C. Mountain peaks will see cold to very cold conditions, with minimum temperatures from seven to 15°C. Winds will blow from the northeast at 10 to 20 km/h.

Central Thailand will have cool weather and morning fog, with temperature increases of one to two degrees. The lowest temperatures will be between 19 and 21°C, with highs from 32 to 34°C. Northeast winds will range from 10 to 20 km/h.

Cool mornings

The eastern region will see cool weather and morning fog, with temperatures rising similarly. The lowest temperatures will range from 20 to 23°C, with highs from 33 to 35°C. Northeast winds will blow at speeds of 15 to 30 km/h, with seas having waves below 1 metre and farther from shore, waves about 1 metre high.

In the southern region, the eastern coast will experience cool weather with morning fog and thunderstorms covering 40% of the area, mainly in Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Songkhla, Pattani, Yala, and Narathiwat. The lowest temperatures will range from 21 to 24°C, with highs from 31 to 33°C.

From Nakhon Si Thammarat upwards, northeast winds will range from 15 to 30 km/h, with seas having waves about one metre high, and in thunderstorms, waves higher than 2 metres. From Songkhla downwards, northeast winds will range from 15 to 35 km/h, with seas having waves from 1 to 2 metres, and in thunderstorms, waves exceeding 2 metres.

The western coast of the south will experience thunderstorms covering 30% of the area, mainly in Krabi, Trang, and Satun. The lowest temperatures will be between 23 and 25°C, with highs from 32 to 34°C. East winds will range from 15 to 30 km/h, with seas having waves about 1 metre high, and farther from shore, waves exceeding 1 metre in thunderstorms, and waves higher than 2 metres.

In Bangkok and its vicinity, expect cool weather with morning fog and a rise in temperatures by 1 to 2 degrees. The lowest temperatures will range from 22 to 23°C, with highs from 32 to 35°C. Northeast winds will blow at speeds of 10 to 20 km/h.
