Popular Post webfact Posted December 2, 2024 Popular Post Posted December 2, 2024 Picture courtesy: TAT Pattaya Once a serene fishing village along Thailand's Eastern Gulf Coast, Pattaya has morphed into a bustling tourism powerhouse over the decades. This remarkable transformation springs from strategic development, increased infrastructure investment, and an expansive range of attractions that beckon global visitors. Back in the 1970s, Pattaya was a humble seaside community primarily sustained by fishing. Its untouched beaches and serene ambiance began attracting visitors seeking tranquil escapes. The Vietnam War played a crucial role, as American soldiers deployed in the region frequented Pattaya for leisure, igniting the town's initial tourism spark. By the 1980s and 1990s, Pattaya was rapidly urbanising. New hotels, restaurants, and entertainment spots emerged to accommodate the swelling numbers of tourists from home and abroad. The city soon earned a reputation for its lively nightlife, drawing visitors worldwide. However, such growth sparked concerns about overcrowding and environmental strain. Realising the importance of sustainable tourism, Pattaya began shifting gears in the 2000s. Efforts to bolster infrastructure included improved roads, a modernised public transport network, and facilities catering to family-friendly tourism. Theme parks, shopping centres, and cultural landmarks sprang up, appealing to a broader range of visitors. Events like the Pattaya International Fireworks Festival and various music and sports events have further bolstered the city's dynamic image. Fast forward to today, Pattaya is far more than a beach destination. The city offers cultural experiences, eco-tourism, and luxury amenities. S Strategic projects like the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) and a commitment to green initiatives guide its growth plans. Pattaya is now favoured by retirees, families, and international investors, expanding its appeal beyond conventional tourism. From its roots as a simple fishing village, Pattaya embodies change and innovation, standing as a testament to Thailand’s tourism prowess. The city's journey underscores its resilience and adaptability, securing its spot as a major global tourism player. Whether exploring cultural treasures, indulging in luxury, or enjoying its famous nightlife, visitors find Pattaya a compelling destination ready to enchant for many years to come, reported Pattaya Mail. -- 2024-12-02 14
Popular Post MalcolmB Posted December 2, 2024 Popular Post Posted December 2, 2024 For a man that grew up amongst large built, nasty toxic feminists in the west it is heaven on earth. Petite, silky skinned smiling angels, willing to let you live out your most perverted fantasies for about the price of a meal in a nice restaurant. Thank God for Pattaya. 4 3 2 5 1 6 2
Popular Post Foxx Posted December 2, 2024 Popular Post Posted December 2, 2024 I think the last part of the title was truncated. It should read: "Pattaya Flourishes from Quiet Fishing Village to Vibrant Tourist Hub to human cesspit". 1 1 1 3 4
Popular Post wensiensheng Posted December 2, 2024 Popular Post Posted December 2, 2024 No mention of Pattayas principal industry of prostitution? It started during the Vietnam R and R destination during the Vietnam war as referenced in the article and has indeed flourished since that date. Quiye why such a random article should make headlines today, I have no idea 🤷♂️ 1 2 3

When was it ever a vibrant tourist hub? 1 2 1

bbbbooboo Posted December 2, 2024 Posted December 2, 2024 umm… how long hasn’t Pattaya been a quiet fishing village. I’m shocked to hear this?
Popular Post terryofcrete Posted December 2, 2024 Popular Post Posted December 2, 2024 Family friendly? I'd like to see a family negotiating their way up or down Soi Bukahao on foot without casualties...or worse...swim in the sea at this beach resort without being sick afterwards. ...bring the kids on a tour of the weed shops...? 1 2

It also has quite a nice, wide Promenade. 54 minutes ago, terryofcrete said: or worse...swim in the sea at this beach resort without being sick afterwards Like this? No reports of all the sickness our childless posters are always claiming. I see families out swimming all the time. Koh Larn is good for swimming and a big attraction nowadays. 54 minutes ago, terryofcrete said: bring the kids on a tour of the weed shops...? Is that the only kind of shop in Pattaya? Have you ever seen a mall? Conclusion: rubbish post from the clueless confined to Soi Buakhao. Millions of families coming to Pattaya as tourists AND expats raising families quite successfully here. IN CONDOS, too. Great schools around, recreation, medical care, etc. 1 1 1 1 1

Wish I could go back in time, we rode horses on the beach water skied in the ocean. Best of times 1

Popular Post Issanraider Posted December 2, 2024 Popular Post Posted December 2, 2024 I have just returned to the tranquility of Khon Kaen after a 3 night visit to Pattaya to see the fireworks festival which was spectacular beyond belief. The city was mobbed and I’m sure that fortunes were made by everyone from the beach chair operatives up to the hotels who seem to treble their nightly rates. Can’t believe the transformation of Pattaya since my first visit in 2001 however nothing has changed with the infrastructure with constant gridlock on most roads although to be fair there was an exceptional amount of additional traffic due to the fireworks festival. It must be an age thing because I happily lived in Jomtien for 7 years from 2005 but after just a couple of hours in Soi Diana last Thursday I concluded that I no longer want to be in the company of masses of pissed up farangs anymore. 😂 2 3

A lot has changed with the infrastructure. Don't worry, every change was accompanied by a loud chorus of sneers on the forum. You really think this many people are going to make into the beach and back w/ no gridlock? 49 minutes ago, Issanraider said: after just a couple of hours in Soi Diana last Thursday I concluded that I no longer want to be in the company of masses of pissed up farangs anymore. Well, then you wouldn't stay in Soi Diana. Pattaya's a large and diverse area. The vast majority of expats don't live in the CBD and don't even visit that regularly. 1
