Times are tough and I am going through some financial difficulties. All I have left in my bank account is 1,042,356.23 baht. Will this be enough until i get my government pension in 14 years?

If you are careful, it might last you 2 years.

But Thais can do it

That equates to about Baht 6000 a month for the next 14 years.

Not enough to live on, not enough to even exist on.

A fag packet calculation shows 200 Baht a day......good luck with that.

Not unless they are cohabiting etc and are not paying rent or bills, living with family etc.

Maybe find a girlfriend to cohabitate with. Teach English online or classroom. Maybe Cambodia can be cheaper for you.

These threads should be posted in the Pub forum.

Hilarious 😂

Maybe get yourself a job, beer bar manager on Soi 6.

Apparently there are rooms upstairs (beds with soiled sheets), somewhere for you to sleep.

I kinda agree with all the frivolous responses.  If you cannot get a govt retirement check for 14 more years, then you are a relatively youngster compared to many on this forum like me 78 years old and therefore you are still young enough to go out and find a job that doesn't even require many skills in order to survive until that check comes along.BTW just how old are you?

My parents in law life for less, unless they have some extraordinary coming up.

No tax, no rent, 600,- baht a month water and electricity, gas 400. Food? But they have family, and can live a decent life because of them.

You can find a job, live there, or stay in some Thai temple occasionally.

1 million US Dollars might be enough to retire in Thailand.

That of course, depends on whether your house and car are paid for, as mine are, and her kids are out of school now.

We manage quite well on 35k per month from my UK pension, with the odd supplement from Investments/Crypto profits. I am lucky that my IO allows the Combination Method, so I transfer only 35k per month with 420k in the Bank, adding up tp over 800k.

Absolutely no way unless you eat a bowl of rice a day and live in a tin shed

Rent a 18 meter fan room for about 2200-2500฿ a month, that leaves you, say ~3700 a month use minimum amount of electricity, ~500฿ a month. 3200฿ left to live on /30=~100฿ a day for rice, beans and evading immigration.

On the extremely rare case that this is not a wind up is to tell this gent "sure you can live off 1 million baht for 14 years" but you might have to sell your arse a couple of times a week to manage it.

Thanks. I was doing some research and found some rooms for 1,800 baht a month which should give me more money to live on for daily expenses.

What I love about Thailand is that you can live on any budget.

On Thursday he was commenting on older condo buildings, so would seem to have enough knowledge and experience of Thailand to answer his own question.

Retire with? No. Make a business or living with, sure can, I use half of that to make 2K usd monthly since 7+ years. Just some years ago, you could have bought 10 bitcoin with it too.

A fool needs tons of money.

Finally an intelligent reply.

1 million baht....as if.

But this is my current balance in a Thai bank account which made me think....what if this was all the money I had to live with for the next 14 years? What would I do?

Question. How do you use 500k baht to make 2usd a month? Trading crypto? I don't have issue with crypto, as I trade it myself a little, but I have issue with exchanges. They have proven time and time again to be scamming and thieving enterprises.
