They are literally everywhere now. In every tourist hotspot, in every condo building, in every restaurant and on every train, Thailand is littered with these Russian draft dodgers who show a complete disregard for local laws and customs.

The kids are the worst, they have no respect for anything or anyone and the parents just laugh it off.

Just the other day I had a bust up with a Russian mother about how her son was behaving in public, I told her straight that she should be embarrassed and she should teach him how to do things correctly. All this was going on whilst a Japanese couple with kids were sitting on the opposite side of the train. Those children were so well behaved and it was such a refreshing sight, I even gave them a thumbs up and had a pleasant chat with them with my limited Japanese. I pointed this out to her to which she gave me the middle finger and told me to eff off...

Lovely people they are, but to be honest I have come to expect nothing less.

To be fair, apart from tourism money, most Thais don't want any foreigners in Thailand.

I love Russian draft dodgers. Think of them as an employment program for North Koreans.

A big deterrent for me being in thailand. The south beach areas used to be the best parts of thailand, not anymore

Indeed.

Most if not all are now Russian ghettos.

It's such a sad sight to behold.

They should be back home on the frontlines in the snow, fighting a war which they started.

Thailands biggest misfortune is their location. Chinese and russian tourists are driving away everyone else. Those countries are ranked one and two biggest parasites on earth

I was in Chiang mai immigration  on Immigration and I'd say 80% of all people there were Chinese. Wherever they're going is probably wrecked now. Thankfully I don't know.

How often do you tell Thai parents what to do?

Is it that all Thai children behave? Or do you like to pick on the outsiders and pretend you are the big guy? You told a Russian mother what to do, yeah, you should be proud of yourself.

Why don't you look for a challenge?

The Ukrainians they're not shooting at are pleased.

Same guy who's mortified that some Thai people can't afford scooter helmets that would actually protect them in a crash.

Trying to bring the nanny state to LOS.

No issues so far, that I know of.  A couple on forums, but in real life, just a few Brits & couple Germans I didn't get along with.

Most people are just fine, though can't say I had more than 5 decent friends here, and the rest fall into just acquaintances met at monthly forum meeting  in Udon Thani.

Probably only been over to theirs, or had 5 or so non Thai guest at the house.  Except for 'meet ups' fairly private person.

Don't think I actually know any Russians, or could tell what they are when out and about, unless they are talking within ear's length.

Same with Chinese, as most Asian tourist look alike to me.  Haven't spent any time in CN or JP to be able to tell the difference.  Smaller local neighbor country ones are a bit easy to spot, since their Thai is as bad as mine.

Doesn't bother me if I get my head kicked in, it's nothing new!

If you replaced the “Russians” with Brits in the OP it would be taken down in a heartbeat.

when Bob isn’t slagging off the Thais he is usually slagging off Russians or someone else.

All with his head in the sand about how most people see us here and the constant trouble we cause.

Despite Russians out numbering us by 10 to 1, we make the news more for crime and unsavory incidents in Thailand.

And a big part of that is people like Bob and Richard always mouthing off, sticking their noses in and offering “advice” on how others should be behaving.
My personal experience with Russians unless drunk they mind their own business and keep to themselves.

Give me Russians and Chinese over obese Americans any day.

The only ones who agree with you is the thai govt. the people dealing with them learn the hard way

I'm ninety one today. What was the question?😉

My issue is the Russians in Thailand is that they have driven up rental rates.  I was on Koh Phangan about 9 months ago, hoping to rent a property that I previously lived in.  Not a chance! Rented out to a Russian at 3 times my old rent rate! I stayed a week looking to rent a property for a modest rent.  Nope - all rented to Russians and the countryside being built over with Russian-owned projects.

I chatted with a Thai family who had several studio rental properties on their land.  They told me that they were very happy when a Russian came and rented all their properties for 2 years at a discounted rate. Then that happiness turned sour when the guy sublet those properties at high rates to drunken, loud Russian families....

I didn't stay on that island.  Ruined by Russians.

You can not cope with Thailand.

Looks like you struggle to cope with Chinese and Russians on this thread and you are always harping on about Muslims.

Best you stay where you are.

Nobody will miss you.

As do all foreigners here.

Bad luck if you are Thai on a Thai wage. Good luck if you are a landlord.

Youre friends with the scum, and enemies with your own kind. The worst kind of traitor, and an IQ low enough to group all Americans together, the most diverse country on the planet
