A mother and daughter were seriously injured in a car crash late on December 12 when their Honda Jazz collided with a truck, causing the car to overturn and block the road. The crash led to a subsequent collision involving a pickup truck, leaving the pair trapped inside their vehicle.

According to reports, the incident occurred at approximately 23:15 on the outbound lane of Ratchaphruek Road, at the Ratchaphruek-Rattanathibet overpass in Bang Rak Noi, Nonthaburi Province. Local police from Bang Si Mueang Police Station and emergency responders from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation rushed to the scene.

Upon arrival, authorities found a severely damaged Honda Jazz with Suphan Buri license plates overturned in the middle of the road. Inside the vehicle, two injured individuals were trapped: Ms. Boonyang 49, and her daughter, Ms. Ariyada 19. The car’s roof had collapsed, pinning them inside.

Rescue workers used hydraulic cutting tools to extricate the mother and daughter before providing first aid. They were later transported to Phra Nang Klao Hospital for further treatment.

A Toyota pickup truck with Bangkok license plates, carrying a full load of coconuts, was also found damaged at the scene. The truck had collided with the overturned Honda Jazz after being unable to stop in time. The crash also caused significant damage to the bridge’s safety barriers.

Mr. Samrit the pickup truck driver, recounted the moments leading up to the crash. He said he had been transporting coconuts from Ban Phaeo District, Samut Sakhon, to Talad Thai Market when he noticed a 6-wheel truck ahead. The Honda Jazz, traveling in the center lane, suddenly swerved and collided with the truck’s rear corner, possibly due to the driver’s drowsiness or an abrupt attempt to overtake. The impact caused the car to veer into the concrete barrier before overturning and sliding across the road.

Mr. Samrit explained that he could not brake in time and collided with the overturned car. After the incident, the 6-wheel truck involved reportedly fled the scene, leaving authorities to investigate further.

Police are collecting evidence, including CCTV footage from the overpass, to determine the exact cause of the crash. They also plan to interview the injured mother and daughter once their conditions stabilize.

Authorities are continuing their investigation and urge any witnesses or the driver of the 6-wheel truck to come forward.
