Help & Suggestions please as next year I will have no UK address
Thanks. I pay income tax in Spain as I work there. Now I have to submit a tax declaration to HMRC every year as my minimal dividends there are over the miserable threshhold. Now I am also dealing with CGT there over inherited assets. As non-res for over 25 years, I was off their radar for decades until the above started in 2021. I can see that a UK address is prob. unnecessary when applying for a passport; it's more a concern of what could happen if I no longer have a physical address for banking/financial/accounting purposes. Perhaps this is adequately resolved by using one of the above post box services... -

Thai Red Garlic
Most garlic here in Thailand is planted in our autumn, harvested in January /depending on where you are, in my area Lopburi ,we have a big festival near her in February, known for selling garlic and the red shallots onions. often just harvested. One problem with Thailand is that they are very conservative with a big capital C, meaning that like the same things all the time, as I said the white garlic is mostly used, the garlic you want not so much is grown ,finding growers that grows it might not be easy ,your best way would be contract growing ?,finding farmers willing to grow the crop. The big problem would be as you said, is the soil chemistry or lack of, Thai soil is not that fertile, soil organic matter being the main biggest problem but as most garlic is grown on 2-3 rie ? plots that could be overcome, the carrot on the stick, would be saying to the farmers you would pay them a bit over the odds to grow your crop, but you would have to know about growing cost etc. to work a budget out. Have a word with AN's drtreelove, he is our soil expert, and he lives up in Chang Mie. -

DTV visa extension
Exactly, 40 million tourists per year is too much and not looking for the traffic but happy for them all the same. The reason I'm commenting on this is because I've seen many YouTube videos promoting this new visa and it could potentially seriously ruin peoples life if it goes the way I think it will. Imagine quitting your job, or selling your house because some person who's been in Thailand 12 months has you sold on the idea you can have 500k in your bank once every 5 years, leave the country overnight once every 6 months and then work online and live in Thailand for the rest of your life. These people have no history in the country and may not even know about the other visas and how they all interact but if they did they should get this distinct impression this is too good to be true, what's the catch? The scenario I think plays out it is that in 6 or 12 months you go to re-enter and immigration says "why are you staying in Thailand so much, you need a proper visa for staying more than 12 months" and you say "I have the 5 year DTV", and they respond "yes you can use it for 5 years but you can't live in Thailand without the correct visa". You argue with them and they remind you nowhere in the terms does it say you GUARANTEED 5 years of back to entries, you've made that up. Boom your whole life is wrecked now and you're in panic mode all because some slick kid on YouTube got your hopes up. Tragic if this happens to people. I've been there before and lived through this. It doesn't matter if you have the visa, they'll issue you tourists back to back but entering the country is another matter. I've always been able to buy the visa because it's not their job to scrutinize your immigration history, that happens at the border when you try to enter. -

Calm down dear, calm down. X is only the 13th most popular social media platform worldwide and the user count has declined by 33 million since January 2024. https://www.demandsage.com/twitter-statistics/ -

GB News Criticized for Extensive Focus on Muslims Amid Controversy Over Reporting
I recall back in the good old days of ISIS that they called for (I think, could be wrong) Hajj which I understood to be an invasion into infidel territory. Seems to have worked.
