In a shocking incident in Chonburi's Phan Thong district, a 39- year-old woman fatally shot her husband, a village assistant headman, after a heated argument over infidelity and ongoing domestic violence. The tragedy unfolded at around noon on December 16 at a house in Nong Hong subdistrict.

Police officers from Phan Thong Police Station, led by Pol. Lt. Chathakanin Inson, arrived at the scene alongside medical staff and rescue workers. They discovered the body of Mr. Jumphon Sonsamret, 36, kneeling face-down near the bed, wearing only gray shorts. He had sustained eight gunshot wounds to his back, with five bullets exiting through his chest.

Evidence at the scene included five 9mm shell casings, two .380 bullets, and two semi-automatic handguns, a 9mm and a .380, both loaded. Clumps of hair were also found in the bedroom, further indicating signs of previous violence.

The suspect, Ms. Anantaya Nimitmala, was found crying outside the house and admitted to shooting her husband. She told police that the argument began over financial troubles and his alleged infidelity. She described years of physical abuse, including being confined to the house out of jealousy and being assaulted regularly.

The altercation escalated when Mr. Jumphon allegedly cut her hair during the weekend and assaulted her again earlier that morning. Fearing for her life when he threatened her with a gun, Ms. Anantaya retrieved her own firearm, reportedly purchased from a police officer, and fired multiple shots at him.

Authorities have taken Ms. Anantaya into custody for further questioning and legal proceedings, while the victim's body has been sent to Chonburi Hospital for an autopsy.

Adding an eerie dimension to the case, it was revealed that Mr. Jumphon had recently posted on social media about a fortune- teller's prediction that he would die from gunfire. He claimed to have entrusted evidence of the prediction to a close friend, stating he was unafraid of the future but feared good people might betray him.

As Ms. Anantaya was escorted to the police station, the victim's father, visibly enraged, attempted to attack her, prompting officers to intervene and prevent further conflict.

Probably would have been better if she had just moved out.
