Thai Woman's Video of Neighbour Feud Over Smoke Sparks Debate

A heated confrontation involving two neighbours in Nonthaburi province near Bangkok has ignited a social media frenzy and a community debate. Kannika, a 32-year-old woman, posted a video on Facebook showing herself assaulting her 64-year-old neighbour, Tuk, accusing her of deliberately blowing cigarette smoke into her home.

 

In her post, Kannika explained her actions, expressing frustration over what she described as four years of enduring smoke-filled air. "I have security cameras that record Tuk smoking and blowing the smoke into my home," Kannika asserted, arguing that her patience had worn thin despite efforts to seal her home off from the nuisance.

 

The altercation, caught on camera, escalated from verbal complaints to physical violence, with Kannika pushing Tuk to the ground. The incident, reported by ThaiRath, occurred early yesterday morning in the Pak Kret district.

 

Kannika, speaking to Channel 8, mentioned her severe allergies and criticised Tuk and others in the community for not heeding her pleas to smoke far from her house. On the other hand, Tuk's landlord, Wanee, painted a different picture, describing Tuk as a considerate person who tried to minimise smoke exposure and even moved further away while smoking.

 

 

A local Facebook page known for airing community grievances sided with Tuk, suggesting that Kannika's complaints were selective. They noted that Kannika's husband, a smoker too, is not subjected to the same scrutiny by Kannika.

 

Kannika defended her husband, stating he smokes at a safe distance, ensuring minimal impact on her allergies or the neighbours.

 

The dispute has now taken a legal turn, with Tuk intending to pursue legal action against Kannika for the assault. Meanwhile, the incident continues to spark varied views on social media about neighbourly conduct and tolerance.

The fact her husband smokes in the house would suggest she is selective in her objections  regarding her neibours smoking

I guess her house would have to be built right on the property line for him to blow smoke into it.
