Is it possible to have a UK Bank account while being tax resident in Thailand?
Is your HSBC account offshore or in UK? I used to have an offshore account with HSBC and had a credit card which was issued from UK. When I needed a new credit card HSBC UK refused to send it to Thailand so I had them send it to my offshore bank address who then sent it to me in Thailand. Their refusal was based on Thailand not being a secure location for delivery, although I never had any problems receiving my cards when HSBC offshore sent them. HSBC would however send my credit card to Seoul Korea where I lived for a while, and on three separate occasions I never received it, even when having HSBC in Seoul instruct HSBC UK to send the card to them for me to collect in person. I closed my HSBC offshore account eventually but kept the credit card active and guess what, come time for renewal HSBC UK had no problem sending me the card to Thailand! -

British mother’s tourist warning after drugs kill daughter in Thailand
I have sympathy for both. Rebecca was from the UK, and that apparent poor decision-making and lack of maturity in a 36yo is a symptom of the malaise generated from the UK's "health and safety" obsessed Government and society. Nothing that can be controlled by legislation is allowed to be dangerous, everything is "safe". UK citizens growing up are kept wrapped up in cotton-wool and told repeatedly that the state is responsible for their well-being "from the cradle to the grave". The result is that many UK citizens do not learn how to take care of themselves nor how dangerous the world can be, so a 36yo who has not learnt how to make life-saving choices when allowed out into a freer environment is very, very sad, but no surprise. R.I.P. Rebecca. -

MRT for foreign seniors?
Me too. I have topped up my elder card three times, at 500 baht per time, since the new rule/new card came into effect. I asked the cashier about it and she said no problem. They have received no instructions about foreigners using or topping up the old elder card, only that the new discounted card is available only to Thais. -

Krabi: Brother-in-Law Kills Teenage Sister-in-Law in Drug-Induced Frenzy
When police are called to anybody causing trouble under the influence of drugs an automatic 30 day solitary confinement prison sentence should be applied on proof of drug in blood test. That would go a long way to discouraging people's use & abuse of drugs.
