I have a DTV visa and am thinking about doing a border bounce at Poipet. Do you think it's a good idea? Will I be allowed to exit Cambodia the same day? Will Thai officers harass me upon entry into Thailand, despite the fact that I have a DTV visa?

You'd be hard pressed to find a WORST land border crossing in all of Thailand than Aranyaprathet/Poipet. 😮  😞

If you're hell bent on bouncing yourself (which you shouldn't do because ANY cambo border can make you stay out overnight) you want to use either Ban Laem or Ban Pakard in Chantaburi province
OR
you should do IF you're in bangkok is use a service to bounce you out and back (they have already paid the border guards so you can get out/back the same day)
Someone like SWD Transport runs to the border every day from Bangkok

I know about this, but given the fact that I have a DTV visa allowing long stay, maybe they will be less hostile? As far as I know, they mostly harass people bouncing on visa exempt. Do you know of anyone holding a proper long stay visa who was harassed at Poipet?

I would say you haven't bounced at that border in a good long while 😞

it's NOT the visa you hold or don't hold it's the BORDER you're trying to use. That border is nothing but trouble and you might actually be told, you can get out but you have to fly back in (people on year/multi Non-O's were told this before) and they had to slog to Siem Reap and fly back

Keep in mind a DTV is just a glorified tourist visa in the eyes of immigrationz 😉

That border was bad before covid and it only got worse once they re-opened.

Go try it,

I mean the worst they can say is you can get out but not back in OR tell you to stay in cambodia a night or two before you can get back

Believe me they'll tell you when you go to stamp out how it will be

I have a one year Retirement visa in Cambodia and have 3 entries into Thailand at Poipet and 5 into Cambodia this year and never any problem.

What visa do you have in Thailand?

Did you bounce in/out of Cambodia the same day?

Are you just making threads about every possible scenario? You posted that doing a 90 day report in person was too hard so was going to fly out of Thailand without it, then you wanted to do DTV extension in Pattaya and now you want to do a border run through Poipet.

If you're in Pattaya why wouldn't you just do one of the many same day border runs from there. Will cost you 3000 baht and you're back in your hotel by 2:30 pm

Because I live in Bangkok and Pattaya. I did my first 90 day report in Pattaya to avoid the Bangkok immigration hell. (In hindsight, I might have just skipped it.) As for the organized border runs, I don't wanna mar my passport with a stupid Cambodian visa, while at Poipet they allow evisas without a sticker. Plus I need a little bit of time to roam on the Cambodian side before going back into Thailand.

In that case, use the Trat / Koh-Kong border to Cambodia, which also accepts Cambodian e-Visas, but doesn't have the problems of Poipet.   Since you want some time in Cambodia before returning, you will not have to pay the "same day return" bribe to Cambodian immigration.

I need some time, but just a couple hours at most. So it's gonna be the same day return

The problem is that there are no regular buses that go there, unlike to Poipet

It is very easy to get to Trat / Koh Kong by public transport. I have done it many times. Just get the bus to Trat and there are very regular minibuses and songthaews heading to Hat Lek which is the border.

In that case, have a few 100-Baht notes handy for the Cambodian side of immigration.  It used to be 300 Baht - not sure nowadays.

Same as another poster ...I don't understand any of your posts.

Seems you were always going to Poi Pet.

Despite many posts against that idea.

Fixated on page of pp for Laos visa.

Then finally indicate that border run from Pattaya is an option.

Use an agent minivan company from Pattaya

Here is post from OP in recent thread. He did same day bounce

from Pattaya.

"Agency: Thai visa service (TVS) in Pattaya

Price: 4000 + 2500 (because I'm on Non O)

Border: Ban Pakkad"
