A fisherman was shocked to discover an unidentified male body washed up on the shores of Bang Chalong Beach in Surat Thani on the evening of 8 January. The body, which appeared to be that of a man aged under 40, was found by the fisherman who was in the area to collect shrimp.

The body, bloated and emitting a foul odour, had been carried ashore by the waves. The man was wearing a long-sleeved green shirt and blue underwear, with his head only being the skull bone, with no flesh. No documents were found on the body to help identify the deceased, and there were no signs of a struggle. It is believed the man had been dead for approximately a week.

The discovery was made around 18:30 when children playing on the beach alerted the fisherman to the grim find. The fisherman immediately notified the local authorities, and emergency responders were dispatched to the scene to investigate.

Following an initial inspection, the body was taken to Chaiya Hospital for a post-mortem examination and further identification. Chaiya Police, stated there have been no reports of any missing persons matching the description of the deceased.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death.
