Speeding tickets and re taxing vehicle

Featured Replies

Taxed my pick up today in Pranburi has  at least 2  speeding tickets, not mentioned, taxed ok.

Someone  said a while back when taxing there car there that they had to pay  fines before tax was given.

Anyway theres an update, didnt pay any fines. ps save me the menace on the roads crap replies......nah knock yerself out go for it after all one of them was 121kph in a 120kph gasppppppppppppppppppp poor  Timmy Somchainever stood a chance

The other was a 116kmh in a 100kmh when changing lanes from the 120 lane  to the 100 lane ( what a dumb rule that is) when it was empty.

Im sure there's  others but I file em in trash or maybe I should do as the Pataya guy did and eat them?

May be that's the reason

I got one at 121 also.  Very cheesy even western countries usually give a 5 to 10 mile an hour leeway.  I am sure all the cameras here are calibrated monthly to ensure accuracy.

If your land transport office does not have a Police dept you will get away with it. The main one at Chatuchak does have Police and you will get fined.

Your family must really look up to you.

I think the 'Link between tickets and tax' depends on the IT set up of each regional office (or at least it was)..  i.e. the systems in one province may not be the same (as modern) as systems in another province.

In 'some' provinces - when paying the Tax the DLT is also aware of any fines registered to the vehicle and they 'will' request that you pay the fines....

... But, a recent case (as linked above) ruled that the DLT cannot withhold tax documentation if you refuse to pay the fine.

Thus: This could be one of two things.

a) They systems are not linked in the province yet and they were unaware of the fines.

or...

b) The systems are linked, but the DLT have taken the ruling a step further and are not making any requests to pay fines.

bin it, just face facts its a farce here and a farce in the west just to make money, nothing else in fact Im surprised now they dont say its not about going too fast as using to much fuel and thus polluting more as the "excuse" for screwin g you.

I posted last year about my SIL having traffic fines which I told her not to pay. When she went to tax the car she was forced to pay the fines. I can't find the original post now but I searched for it as I received a fine in the post this week and wondered what the current status re fines is.

Anyone else forced to pay when renewing their tax?

Is it not the highway dept that is not linked to the land and transport that's the reason we can tax without paying outstanding fines?

I must have hundreds of unpaid fines, they're getting nowt from me.

Thus, what's the point paying them Ricardo?
