Jack Smith insists Trump WOULD have been convicted of election interference

Donald Trump raged against special counsel Jack Smith's report in a late night rant to Truth Social shortly after it was released. Smith stood by his decision to bring charges against Donald Trump and said he would have been convicted had he not won the election in a much-anticipated report.

'The throughline of all of Mr. Trump's criminal efforts was deceit - knowingly false claims of election fraud - and the evidence shows that Mr. Trump used these lies as a weapon to defeat a federal government function foundational to the United States' democratic process,' the report states.

The comprehensive report, coming just days before Trump is to return to the White House on January 20, focuses fresh attention on his extensive but failed effort to cling to power in 2020. Trump has already responded to its release with an infuriated post to social media.

Trump has already hit back at the report in a Truth Social post at around 1:41am, writing: 'Deranged Jack Smith was unable to successfully prosecute the Political Opponent of his 'boss,' Crooked Joe Biden, so he ends up writing yet another 'Report' based on information that the Unselect Committee of Political Hacks and Thugs ILLEGALLY DESTROYED AND DELETED, because it showed how totally innocent I was, and how completely guilty Nancy Pelosi, and others, were.

The president-elect then followed it up with two more missives to his social media platform. 'To show you how desperate Deranged Jack Smith is, he released his Fake findings at 1:00 A.M. in the morning. Did he say that the Unselect Committee illegally destroyed and deleted all of the evidence.'

He followed it up with his trademark: 'MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!'

The 137-page document is expected to be the final Justice Department chronicle of the probes. Smith, who resigned on Sunday after completing two criminal investigations, wrote to Attorney General Merrick Garland that he believed had Trump stood trial on the charges, he would have been convicted.

'The department's view that the Constitution prohibits the continued indictment and prosecution of a president is categorical and does not turn on the gravity of the crimes charged, the strength of the government's proof or the merits of the prosecution, which the office stands fully behind,' Smith wrote.

'Indeed, but for Mr. Trump's election and imminent return to the presidency, the office assessed that the admissible evidence was sufficient to obtain and sustain a conviction at trial,' he added.  Trump called Smith 'a lamebrain prosecutor who was unable to get his case tried before the Election, which I won in a landslide. THE VOTERS HAVE SPOKEN!!!'

Smith wrote the report, which was transmitted to Congress early Tuesday after a judge refused to block its release. It describes prosecutors' charging decisions in the case that resulted in Trump being indicted for taking a trove of national security documents to Mar-a-Lago.  They also include the decision to charge Trump with heading a conspiracy to overturn the 2020 election.

The document includes for the first time a detailed assessment from Smith about his investigation, as well as a defense by Smith against criticism by Trump and his allies that the investigation was politicized.

If Trump would have been convicted, how about the 126 congressmen and 18 states that agreed that the election was tainted when they filed amicus briefs in support of the Texas vs Pennsylvania suit?

Would they have been convicted, too?

In New York--Of course he would, he would have been sent to jail for dropping a bus ticket on the floor there. .....:w00t:

Seems like a hostage release deal might happen in Gaza. 33 hostages is what I've seen. I know this is a bit off topic but Trump has a negotiation team on the ground in Dubai. If this comes to be and it can be demonstrated that Trumps team has had an influence in  this which I'm assuming they have then surely this will be a great thing and a very positive story. It would be a bit of a change to see something positive about Trump as opposed to all the negative coverage.

Two facts and an opinion. Fact 1: Next Monday US time Trump becomes the President of the United States. Fact 2: The US voters overwhelmingly voted for Trump and gave the Democrats one big boot out the door. Opinion: The DOJ has been weaponised. Not sure how you failed to comprehend this and somehow come to the conclusion that I'm in someway being deceitful. By the way who is the "we" in "hope we don't notice"?

You dropped to the level of admitting the obvious fact you expressed an opinion that you can’t claim to be be based on any facts.

They will turn it negative some how, perhaps they'll say the hostages actually wanted to be there.

Ladies and gentlemen. This is a dementia test.

When was the last time a prosecutor who did not voluntarily drop a case say "I wouldn't have won it anyway."

If you think his "he would have been convicted" statement has any credence, you are demented.

And if you want proof, eight SCOTUS judges including two ultra liberals sided against his stupidity.

So don't be stupid, don't be demented, move on.

I have to laugh when Trump supporters talk about brainwashed sheep, they are pure Merino.

Nup! Remember that a big chunk of the people that voted Trump in were once Democrats. Obviously smart enough to see through all the BS you have been told to believe. People who obviously had the ability of critical thought unlike the brainwashed supporters of the radical left.

I suggest you post proof the liberal judges sided with the conservative judges, because I suspect you are lying.
