Now that applications for NON-B visas using the online system are mandatory, it is also required to show entry stamps/flight tickets and make payments at the embassy. New timeframes from submission to approval indicate a 10-15 day turnaround time, as opposed to the usual one or two days.

We need to identify which countries close to Thailand offer the quickest application-to-approval turnaround times. I’ve called numerous embassies without success and checked their websites, but many have not yet updated their information.

It would be helpful to hear from anyone who has visited any of Thailand’s neighboring countries this year and managed to avoid the 10-15 day wait. Based on what I’ve learned so far, most people have experienced the 10-15 day waiting period for approval. However, the feedback I’ve received has primarily been from individuals who applied in Laos.

Anyone experienced approvals in less than a week?

This won't be of much help....

Seems that places like Savannakhet have suggested 10-15 days wait.

Also my understanding is payment must be made to consulate.

Unreasonable.

Some locations such as Saigon have had eVisa for Thailand available prior to Laos.

Looked for thread without luck.

Hopefully a first hand report will be posted.

Savannakhet is ONE working day.

Upload the documents into the eVisa online system,

leaving the application in your profile

As soon as you cross the border in to Lao upload your Lao visa and entry stamp

Submit the visa in the eVisa system

Go to the consulate that morning between 9-11 to pay (you have to pay IN PERSON)

They usually send the approval within 24 hours of you paying.

Voila!

That sounds great. However we did just have someone go there on the 7th Jan and receive their approval today (17th Jan). Do you mean that if you upload the majority of your documents to your profile online first, then upload visa and entry stamps after that expediates the process?

I have heard (can be taken with a pinch of salt at this stage) that you need to be in the country you're applying for otherwise your IP may be blocked?

Did you just go through this process mate?

Thanks!

I am very interested in this topic too since I may have to leave the country for eVISA next month. I have looked on all nearby Embassy/Consulate sites and they all say "10-15 WORKING days processing time". Only Kuala Lumpur is unique and says "7 days processing time" (they don't say whether that is calendar days or working day)s. I suspect that turnaround time is shorter (as quoted above) for Tourist Visa type than Non-O/Non-B which require more documents to validate.

As part of my preparation for possible eVISA, I have already created an account and prepared a fully drafted application except the document to "indicate current location". I will fly in on a Sunday night, upload the final "indicate current location" document showing my passport entry stamps/flight stubs, submit, pay online and enjoy a vacation in KL from Monday until the visa is approved. Hopefully they process within the week so I can fly back by the following weekend.

Will be interesting anybody can validate the processing times specifically for Non-B and Non-O at nearby countries. Thanks.

The following is only partly related to above, my experience with Phom Phen about 2 years ago.

On their website was some information - in part wrong.

In front of their embassy entrance was other information - also in part wrong.

And one time I had to wait about 3 hours when I wanted to pick up my passport because they didn't understand one part of my documents (I think it was a name change of the company). All was correct, but they didn't see it.

So, whatever you read, don't rely on it.
