Dear Folks,

Is it still possible to get on the stick in Thailand?

I have such fond memories of using Mennen Speed Stick once each morning, beginning back in the 1960s.

What about you?

And, do you still get on the stick once each morning, here in Thailand?

Has the original fragrance of the stick been in any way altered?

I bet it has.

All good things must come to an end.

On Amazon, I found that they do not ship this to Thailand, for some unknown reason; maybe due to cultural reasons or the fact that Mennen helps get one up for the morning, and maybe Thai culture is just typically slower-paced, in the AM?

Maybe if more guys in Thailand were to get on the stick, then things might actually get ACCOMPLISHED around here, meaning things like solving the annual smoke problem and PM2.5 overload.

If you want to know what it means to “get on the stick”, then watch this video.

And, if you know anything about the fragrance formula and availability of Mennen Speed Stick in Thailand, then what is the situation as of 2025?  And, has the product packaging been downsized while the price has increased? Need we even ask?

I know that we all miss it….getting on the stick...

Especially in the mornings, even before breakfast or heading out to the office.

And, especially as we continue to age.

Best regards,

Gamma

Note: Latest rejection from Amazon.  This seems to be happening to me much more frequently, these days....

Deodorant is disgusting. Shower, get a fresh shirt.

Actually, I agree with you....BIG Time, as Trump often says.

Let me see.

When was the last time that I held a stick in my hand?

Must be about.... 1981.

I used to buy Mennen, the last time anyway, upon my visits to Hong Kong, which occurred regularly, about five-times per year.

Then, I though, why bother.

As you say, the stick just gets sticky, after application.

Fortunately, I do not stink....

Much.

Just a waste of money, time, and resources.

Also, not too good for expensive shirts, or so I found.

Therefore, I do agree with you, for various valid reasons.

Note:  The only thing is....I enjoy the smell of it, if for no other reason than that of nostalgia for boarding-school days, etc.

I am wondering if GG is regressing in time, like the grand cesilical elliptical oozle bird.

I preferred the white bottle with a sailing ship on it.

We always bring in a 4-pack of 3 oz sticks on my annual trip for one of our best friends.  He and his son use it.

Old Spice?

Now THAT really is detestable.

Even more detestable when one tries to drink it.

Fit for nothing else, though.

Ah the scent of my father.

The lassies seemed to like it, their opinion was and is more significant to me than yours.

How many chicks did you pull with YOUR stick?

I left the pulling to them, actually.

You were into spectator sport, then. I preferred getting into the thick of it.

Goodness! I didn't think I had anything in common with GG, other than prolixity.

Since the time I hit puberty I have been---as GG notes---'on the stick'.

Good news, GG...the fragrance is still the same, and is quite popular with women, who note the subtle scent on the babe magnets who wear it.  Like any applied fragrance, it mixes with our own natural scent to produce something unique to each of us, just as perfume does for women. (Side note...a few Thai females wearing Estee Lauder Beautiful or Dior j'Adore or Marc Jacobs Daisy can melt me, proving that the way to a man's heart is not through his stomach, but his nose.)

The bad news is that I have never seen it on the shelves in Thailand, save for a shop on the ground floor of the Dusit Thani hotel on Silom and Rama IV. Sadly, that hotel is now gone. In fact, it is difficult to find any product that isn't an antiperspirant.

I have found that the stick, which is a deodorant, not an antiperspirant, does not stain my shirts.....and I wear Stefano Ricci or Brioni shirts when I dress up, so I certainly prefer not to stain them. No worries.

When I visit home---which I will not do again until at least 20 January 2029, owing to a vile stench in the WH---I usually pick up a half dozen sticks. I have a decent stash at present, and I will ask visiting friends to carry a few when they come to Thailand. The shelf life is quite long, if one leaves that clear plastic interior cap on.

By the way, the only person who thinks he doesn't stink and doesn't need deodorant is the one who goes without it. Guys in Chang wifebeaters are the worst, but since I have a nose as sensitive as a Thai female, even the guy in the fancy suit near me on the BTS could have used a swipe or two. No matter how often one bathes, one will exude a scent. It might be subtle if one hasn't eaten peanuts, red onions, or other foods guaranteed to manifest themselves at the first sign of underarm perspiration, but best not to offend, so stick'em up.

Well, at least you know the difference between a scent and a fragrance, which is more than I can say for some around here.

As I recall, back in the dark ages, I could buy one unit of Mennen for about 99 cents.

If not used within two years, they would dry out.

I had a few dry out on me while in Taiwan.

So, maybe you should take care when storing your stash, just to avoid this drying-out problem.

Yes, you are correct:  Women really cannot get enough of this fragrance once applied in the proper amounts and places.

Thanks.

I needed that.

Sorry, I just realized that seller is now out of stock, but I had bought from them before.

But just search for "speed stick men" on Lazada and you will find others. Just avoid the 51g size. You want the normal, standard sized one which is 85g.

Thank you.

I might just buy a stick.

If I find one for the right price.

This as a great product, and maybe still is.
