DEI injected in high-risk professions, impacts safety of users of their services

The recent aviation disaster at Washington DC is raising questions whether lower Air Traffic Controller standards are putting the public at risk.

Dr. Mike McCormick, former Vice President of the Air Traffic Organization, the operational division of the FAA, made a stunning statement about the quality of air traffic controllers and whether or not there has been a decline in competency.

Revolver News noted: “The aggressive substitution of merit in favor of diversity has led to a so-called competency crisis, jeopardizing not only our ability to generate innovative technology but, in a more dire sense, our ability to simply maintain the proper functioning of various complex systems vital to our existence as a first-world civilization. Despite the superficiality of ‘diversity’ as a matter of rhetoric, the reality of diversity as an ideological, cultural, and legal imperative is not merely cosmetic—far from it.”

Not deemed the cause of the Washington one just yet, however I couldn't agree more with:

Probably not just ATC affected but multiple important professions regarding health, safety and public order are affected by DEI quotas etc, a few recent topics on this with Trumps declarations, hopefully people will start seeing his point and it won't take disasters at this level to make people aware there may be method in Trumps madness!

Diversity is important when you are innovating or designing products and services, as diverse opinions and ideas give you a wider customer base, since those diverse people can share what would work for them.

 

Air traffic control is probably not an area where you put diversity in front of experience and competence, though. But I would argue that, even if this happened, it would probably not be the sole reason. Covid's global travel shutdowns also had a lot to do with competences lost. Pilots, mechanics, ATC,... these people were out of work for years, doing other stuff. Mistakes seen after they returned, and all the way to now, at least some of them, also attribute to something lost during that time, procedures forgotten, routine stuff sidelined.

 

Not arguing, just saying that there would be other reasons for dip in aviation safety, and that pandemic shutdown play a part.

Men go to war - ladies give birth.

 

Men should be the bred-winners - women should be caring for the children and looking after the home.

 

Why did ladies in past time all grow their hair long? So the man could get a really good hold as he was dragging them to the cave.

 

It's a crazy, confused, mixed up world for sure.

I bet lines like that don't work well in pulling women.

 

Of course I don't agree that women should be raising children as I'm against population increase.

I don't care if women become soldiers and go to war, as long as I don't have to share a trench with them, or rely on them to pull me out of a burning vehicle..

> I agree that an environment where everybody thinks the same is not a very fertile ground for innovation.  But that doesn't mean that so-called 'positive discriminization' should be practiced when hiring/promoting individuals.  Competence, merit and performance should always be the prime criteria in job-qualifications, and not 'ticking the right boxes' (race, gender, sexual inclination).  

The California wildfires were already somewhat of a Wake-Up call of how woke ideology can divert an organization from its primary mission, as the (lesbian female) LA Fire Dept chief made DEI the Dept's first priority.
