For the customer it reduces / cancels competition and the seller can up prices without fear of competitor activity. In a nutshell higher and higher prices without challenge.

 

Need to look at the long-term big picture. 

While not exactly a monopoly, Walmart, where I live offers consistently low prices on most items.

Their no hassle return service can't be beat. They are my to go pharmacy; fair prices with friendly and fast service.   My favorite one-stop store with their online inventory/price checker.  They also offer quick shipping on non stocked items, items that are not always easy to find elsewhere.

I'm not sure I understand this.

I thought all 7-11 stores in Thailand were managed by CP group on a franchise agreement (from the Japanese?) So, is the CP group offering to buy the franchise and join the Japanese Group to fend off the Canadians.

For reference (Google) all 7-11 stores in Cambodia are managed by CP:
