I remember in Sri Racha before the licence was actually printed, they wisely asked me to check all the details and sign they were correct from a printout.

Fortunately as I could read Thai, I pointed to them that Iceland and the UK are different countries and I am not from Iceland. I got the response "Ireland?". I reiterated not Iceland, not Ireland but the UK. However, this is not important as it is only in their records but not on the Driving Licence itself.

Just take your driving license in and they'll change it but they'll charge you another hundred bht

Pattaya DLT told me I need a new COR to do that. So I went to pattaya immigration to do that but the woman that makes them told me she will not write my name in that order.

So cut to the chase.

You say that sometimes you wish to use your TDL for "identification"

The order of your name means nothing.

Some posts (including mine with link to same question) in summary = "don't worry about it"

Seems to me you are running in circles over nothing.

You are not alone here is very old thread and posts with surname first.

You will read many posts stating that obtained TDL with yellow book, pink ID etc.

That is the case years back however land transport office now wants COR..

I will go back there and ask them. Can you get COR form other places than immigration, for example at the police station or other state departments?

On my DL the name is in the correct order First Middle Family name format. When I renewed my DL in Bangkok a yellow book is not enough, it must be shown with a pink ID card. With that no resident cert is needed.

Was that recently?

Not sure if this is true, but I read somewhere on here that if you apply for a Driving Licence using a Yellow Book, said licence will all be in Thai.

I recently went a changed my passport number on my D/L, so a name change shouldn't be any more difficult.

Remember. You will need to take all copies of documents again. Two of each if also changing motorcycle D/L.

Which city was this? But I guess passport nr is a wrong doing from there side

It's inconsistent. My current Thai DL lists my name in the "First Middle Last" order (which I prefer), but I previously had one that listed it in the "Last First Middle" order.

I doubt they'd be willing to "correct" it if you don't like the order they choose. Ultimately there's nothing incorrect about it that needs to be fixed.

Where did you get your current driving license? And did you need the COR to ge it?

My current license is from the Chatuchak DLT office in Bangkok.

I did need a Certificate of Residence to renew my license (issued by the Chaeng Watthana immigration office, also in Bangkok).

No. You obtain COR at immigration offices.

What's the issue in obtaining COR ?

OP, I don't follow your thread.

One minute you are concerned about order of Name on TDL.

Now concerned about how to obtain a COR.

What do you actually want?

Obtaining a COR is easy process and as explained the order of you name on TDL is irrelevant.

Depends on the DLT office. Morchit/Chatuchak would not accept Yellow Book/Pink ID, however Phra Khanong does. I cannot get COR as never do 90 day reports as always in/out of the country. Consulate stopped giving "affirmation of address" in December 2023. I was able to renew Thai DL with Yellow book/Pink ID just 3 months ago.

Yes in this same thread I posted with link of recent 2024 report of obtaining TDL renewal with pink ID and yellow book.

The saying ..."yes no yes" springs to mind

It seem like it depends where you get your COR how your order of your name is on the COR as some posted before, in Bangkok immigration the name order on COR is in correct order. The Dlt follows that order when you bring the COR as in my case but not in all Dlt

Ohh I see! The COR from chaeng watthana name order was it correctly or it begins with your last name first? Thanks

Sorry, didn't see that. Just wanted to add my personal and recent experience.

I wasn't up to date.

Seems now it's acceptable. As usual perhaps not at all Transport offices.

Does NOT matter.

I received two COR from CW.

First for 2 yr licience then another for 5 year renewal.

My TDL has First-Middle-Surname.

If it was Surname first then Fine.

My current TDL has my old pp #.

I renewed pp last year.

Does it matter? No.

Your TDL (with surname first) is A-OK
