Do you need to look again? Test Your Brain

This is really cool. The second one is amazing so please read all the way though.

ALZHEIMERS' EYE TEST

Count every " F " in the following text:

FINISHED FILES ARE THE RE

SULT OF YEARS OF SCIENTI

FIC STUDY COMBINED WITH

THE EXPERIENCE OF YEARS...

(SEE BELOW)

HOW MANY ?

WRONG, THERE ARE 6 -- no joke.

READ IT AGAIN !

Really, go Back and Try to find the 6 F's before you scroll down.

The reasoning behind is further down.

The brain cannot process "OF".

Incredible or what? Go back and look again!!

Anyone who counts all 6 "F's" on the first go is a genius.

Got six first time around. But I proof-read student papers all day long for spelling errors, grammar, etc. Ole' Eagle Eye, they call me.

where are we getting the free Chang? :D

:D:D very good only three ,2nd time three.................is there something wrong........

Got 3.

I actually do not believe those who got 6 the first time are geniuses. I think they are freaks.

Our brains function all the time by FILLING IN. A word like OF is filler, we don't have time to consider it. It is part of our biology.

There is a good book which considers this phenom scientifically, called Stumbling Into Happiness. Its all about the odd quirks of the human brain.

The most common answer for native speakers is three! We tend to skip words as jingthing has pointed out and we tend not to see words like 'of'. None native speakers will read every word and get more 'f's.

I have seen this years ago, no mystery, it's that the brain will 'more likely take in the 'Fs' that sound like 'F'. So 'Finished' is an 'F' sound, whereas 'of' os more a 'v' sound. It's not that the brain 'does not process! it's that most of us are not good proof-readers, that's why some got it first time, they are good proof-readers!

I disagree. A good proofreader needs to work fast and efficiently. Those OF words were correct. No correction needed. This wasn't a proofreading task.

I disagree. My wife, who's an excellent proof-reader and sees these sorts of things at a glance.

ps she read it once and said '6'!
