The body of a 19-year-old teenager was discovered floating in Bung Si Than, a lake within Khon Kaen University on the morning of 17 February, over two days after he had reportedly left home following a disagreement with his mother.

Rescue workers from the Sawang Khon Kaen Samakkhi Foundation were alerted to the discovery after a jogger spotted the body and notified university security staff. Upon arrival, they found the body of a young male, bloated and partially decomposed, wearing an orange school T-shirt and dark blue jeans. It was estimated that he had been dead for at least 48 hours.

A woman at the scene, later identified as 51-year-old Thanyalak, recognised the deceased as her son, Panyakorn, who had been missing since late night of 14 February. She recounted that she had reprimanded him for spending too much time on his phone. Shortly after, he stormed out of the house, taking only his iPhone 14 but leaving behind the charger.

After being unable to reach him, she reported his disappearance to Muang Khon Kaen Police Station. When informed of the discovery at the pond, she rushed to the scene and confirmed that the clothing and body matched her son’s description.

Authorities are conducting further investigations to determine the exact cause of death.

Smart phones are the life lines to the majority of teenager and young adults.....

This is always one of the two results of Thai conflict resolution. The first one is taking your own life, and the second is taking the life of somebody else.

She probably regrets having that argument now

Nothing can save a suicidal person but his/her own self.  Assume the mom did not have that argument with her son.  Sooner or later, the kid will face another argument and same thing happens.  The person has to mentally break through because life is hard.
