I completely agree with you and I think it's just further evidence that Trump is making America less relevant by the day. Just give it a couple of years. America's standing will diminish dramatically throughout the world. Just the price you pay when you get a circus huckster to run the country, instead of someone with leadership ability, and the ability to practice the art of the diplomacy.

He is avoiding ww3.

He dresses like a man who is directing a war against a genocidal nation. Trump wouldn't know anything about that. Trump is the polar opposite of a patriot.

Can you cencede his raison d'etre "Make America Great Again" is patriotic by nature, or is irrational hatred too blinding?

Zelensky pleased the leftist media, let the leftist media fund him.

That was also the last 10 min. of an hr long mtg.  Given what we saw, I'd say that mtg went south about 45 min. before. lol

Most of the world according to the news with one exception I kept at the bottom of this list, where it belongs along with all the comments from Trump sycophants of this thread:

CANADIAN PRIME MINISTER JUSTIN TRUDEAU ON X
"Russia illegally and unjustifiably invaded Ukraine. For three years now, Ukrainians have fought with courage and resilience. Their fight for democracy, freedom, and sovereignty is a fight that matters to us all. Canada will continue to stand with Ukraine and Ukrainians in achieving a just and lasting peace."
GERMAN CHANCELLOR OLAF SCHOLZ
"No one wants peace more than the citizens of Ukraine! That is why we are jointly seeking the path to a lasting and just peace. Ukraine can rely on Germany – and on Europe."
FRENCH PRESIDENT EMMANUEL MACRON TO REPORTERS IN PORTUGAL:
"Russia is the aggressor, and Ukraine is the aggressed people. I think we were all right to help Ukraine and sanction Russia three years ago, and to continue to do so. We, that is the United States of America, the Europeans, the Canadians, the Japanese and many others. And we must thank all those who have helped and respect those who have been fighting since the beginning. Because they are fighting for their dignity, their independence, their children and the security of Europe. These are simple things, but they're good to remember at times like these, that's all.
ITALIAN PRIME MINISTER GIORGIA MELONI
"Every division of the West makes us all weaker and favours those who would like to see the decline of our civilisation. Not of its power or influence, but of the principles that founded it, first and foremost freedom. A division would not benefit anyone. What is needed is an immediate summit between the United States, European states and allies to talk frankly about how we intend to deal with the great challenges of today, starting with Ukraine, which we have defended together in recent years, and those that we will be called upon to face in the future. This is the proposal that Italy intends to make to its partners in the coming hours."
SPOKESPERSON FOR BRITISH PRIME MINISTER KEIR STARMER
"He retains his unwavering support for Ukraine and is playing his part to find a path forward to a lasting peace, based on sovereignty and security for Ukraine."
AUSTRALIAN PRIME MINISTER ANTHONY ALBANESE
"We will continue to stand with Ukraine for as long as it takes, because this is the struggle of a democratic nation versus an authoritarian regime led by Vladimir Putin, who clearly has imperialistic designs, not just on Ukraine, but throughout that region."
CANADIAN FOREIGN MINISTER MELANIE JOLY ON X
"Canada remains committed to providing the necessary assistance to ensure Ukraine's security, sovereignty, and resilience."
DENMARK'S FOREIGN MINISTER LARS LOKKE RASMUSSEN ON FACEBOOK
"It's a punch in the gut for Ukraine. ... There must be room for robust conversations - even between friends. But when it happens in front of rolling cameras like that, there is only one winner. And he sits in the Kremlin."
EUROPEAN COMMISSION PRESIDENT URSULA VON DER LEYEN ON X
"Your dignity honors the bravery of the Ukrainian people. Be strong, be brave, be fearless. You are never alone, dear President.
"We will continue working with you for a just and lasting peace."
MOLDOVAN PRESIDENT MAIA SANDU ON X
"The truth is simple. Russia invaded Ukraine. Russia is the aggressor. Ukraine defends its freedom - and ours. We stand with Ukraine."
SPANISH PRIME MINISTER PEDRO SANCHEZ ON X
"Ukraine, Spain stands with you."
HUNGARIAN PRIME MINISTER VIKTOR ORBAN ON X
"Strong men make peace, weak men make war. Today President @realDonaldTrump stood bravely for peace. Even if it was difficult for many to digest. Thank you, Mr. President!"
NORWEGIAN PRIME MINISTER JONAS GAHR STOERE IN STATEMENT TO TV2
"What we saw from the White House today is serious and disheartening. Ukraine still needs the US's support, and Ukraine's security and future are also important to the US and to Europe. President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has strong support in Ukraine, broad support in Europe, and he has led his people through a very demanding and brutal time, under attack from Russia. That Trump accuses Zelenskiy of gambling with World War III is deeply unreasonable and a statement I distance myself from. Norway stands with Ukraine in their struggle for freedom. We hope that the Trump administration also understands the importance of a just and lasting peace in Ukraine."
CZECH PRESIDENT PETR PAVEL ON X
"We stand with Ukraine more than ever. Time for Europe to step up its efforts."
DUTCH PRIME MINISTER DICK SCHOOF
"The Netherlands continues to support Ukraine. Especially now. We want lasting peace and an end to the war of aggression that Russia has started. For Ukraine, for all its inhabitants and for Europe."
ESTONIAN FOREIGN MINISTER MARGUS TSAHKNA ON X
"The only obstacle to peace is (Russian President Vladimir) Putin's decision to continue his war of aggression. If Russia stops fighting, there will be no war. If Ukraine stops fighting, there will be no Ukraine. Estonia's support to Ukraine remains unwavering. Time for Europe to step up."
POLISH PRIME MINISTER DONALD TUSK ON X
"Dear @ZelenskyyUa, dear Ukrainian friends, you are not alone."
JOHANN WADEPHUL, DEPUTY OF CONSERVATIVE PARTY-GROUP IN GERMAN PARLIAMENT, THE PARTY OF INCOMING CHANCELLOR FRIEDRICH MERZ, ON X
"The scenes from the White House are shocking. How can you stab the president of an invaded country in the back like this? Free Europe will not betray Ukraine!"
ITALIAN DEPUTY PRIME MINISTER MATTEO SALVINI, LEADER OF THE FAR-RIGHT LEAGUE PARTY ON X
"Aim for PEACE, stop this war! Come on @realDonaldTrump".
(This story has been corrected to fix the first name of the Italian Prime Minister to Giorgia, not Giorgio, in paragraph 6)

... and one predictable exception:
FORMER RUSSIAN PRESIDENT DMITRY MEDVEDEV, DEPUTY CHAIRMAN OF RUSSIA'S SECURITY COUNCIL, ON TELEGRAM
"Zelensky an "insolent pig" who had received a proper slap down in the Oval Office."

Lots of small weak armies.

As the president of a nation at war, I can tell you – we’ve received more than US$75 billion,” Zelenskyy said.

As much as it appeared like a setup and a Zelensky ambush at first, I am starting to have my doubts now. If the attack on Zelensky had been orchestrated, it would have been handled more strategically, and things would not have gotten so heated. What really happened, I believe, was that Trump was already frustrated with Zelensky at that point. Trump expected Zelensky to come over and simply sign over 500 billion dollars in mineral rights, or at the very least, he thought he could pressure him into agreeing to that once he arrived at the White House. But Zelensky was not going to commit to anything without security guarantees from the US, which isn't what Trump was offering, and that is where everything fell apart.

At that point, Trump and Vance morphed into two petulant grade school boys throwing a tantrum. Tensions behind closed doors in politics are not uncommon, but for something like this to explode in the Oval Office, in what was supposed to be a polite meet and greet, became an absolute disaster in terms of optics for America when Zelensky stood his ground.

To be honest, I do not think it would have escalated like that if it were not for Vance. If it had just been Trump and someone like Rubio, you would not have seen it spiral the way it did. In the long run, this will not reflect well on Vance’s political career either. He came across as unhinged, and the history of him getting out of line yesterday is not going to age well for him.

All this talk from Trump’s camp about ending the war and pursuing peace is completely overshadowed by the reality that Trump was trying to extort half a trillion dollars from Ukraine in exchange for nothing. The meeting was not about peace, it was about money. Trump’s allies, like Rubio and Graham, can say whatever they want about this being part of peace negotiations with Putin, but yesterday made it clear that was not the real agenda. It is all misdirection.

The way Trump’s team is framing this is an absolute PR disaster. They are trying to strong arm a war torn country into handing over 500 billion dollars in assets, and when Zelensky refuses, they try to paint him as the problem. It looks predatory and extortionate. And the rest of the world sees right through it. Trump should be working to end the war for the benefit of the US, peace and global stability, not trying to pillage Ukraine for its assets, while offering nothing in return. As Zelensky pointed out in the Oval Office, ending the war is in the best interest of the US as well. But Trump’s focus is only on money, not peace.

Meanwhile, let us look at Trump’s actual track record so far. He campaigned on ending the war in Ukraine within 24 hours. Obviously, that never happened. Inflation is rising, the stock market and Bitcoin are falling, unemployment is up. He is taking jobs away from Americans rather than creating new ones. No lower egg prices, no lower gasoline prices. He has not achieved a single thing.

Granted, he has only been in office for a month, but nothing is on track and if anything, things are getting worse. If he were just a lame duck, that would be one thing, but he is actively already making things worse politically, economically, and socially.

So where do things go from here? One thing is clear, Trump does not want to lose this battle with Zelensky. He built his entire persona on being a dealmaker who could end the war. But now, things are going in the opposite direction. It does not matter who is right or wrong, he is simply not delivering. That is a serious problem for him.

When Zelensky walks away without a deal, Trump fails just as much on the world stage at being a dealmaker and a peacemaker as much as Zelensky risks losing an opportunity for peace.

Not that we ever expected Trump to deliver on anything of tangible value. The real revelation is for the 75 million Americans who voted for Trump, they are now beginning to finally understand the true meaning of FAFO.

Very much agree. Keep in mind that the deal offered to zelensky is a deal concocted between the US and Russia. And when putin says 'i will respect the deal', trump obviously believes him. Zelensky does not and wants assurances.
