In a major crackdown on scam operations, Cambodian police have not only rescued victims but also nabbed suspects involved in nationwide fraud schemes, according to Touch Sokhak from the Ministry of Interior.

Speaking about the latest bust, Sokhak confirmed that 119 Thai nationals were arrested and swiftly sent back to Thailand, where authorities will take over the investigation.

“To be honest, this isn't just about claiming success—it is a success,” Sokhak stated. “We saved victims, caught the scammers, and sent them home, including to neighboring countries.”

Scams remain a huge problem worldwide, and Sokhak stressed that tackling them requires international cooperation. “It’s not just about shutting down these operations—it’s about our government’s commitment to wiping out scam centers across the country,” he said. “This isn’t just for Cambodia’s benefit, but for the region and the world.”

Meanwhile, Thai police have revealed that at least 15 of their nationals were allegedly running online gambling rings out of Poipet. Arrest warrants have now been issued for the group, according to the Bangkok Post.

Police Lieutenant General Trairong Phiewphan, head of Thailand’s Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau (CCIB), said the suspects hosted live gambling sessions in chat groups targeting Thai audiences. They even used a nodding doll as a signal to indicate when bets were open!

Authorities are now tracking down the masterminds behind these operations as the crackdown continues.
