Fatal Truck Crash on Chonburi Bypass

A crash occurred on the Bangkok-bound lane of the Chonburi Bypass near a Caltex petrol station in Ban Suan Subdistrict, Mueang Chonburi District. An 18-wheeler truck driver, lost control, crossed the median, and collided with an oncoming lorry, resulting in the death of the driver at the scene.

 

At 12:55 on 18 March, the Mangorn Chonburi Rescue Team received a report of a serious collision and immediately dispatched emergency responders to the scene.

 

 

Upon arrival, rescuers found an 18-wheel truck with its cab completely detached from the chassis. Nearby, the other lorry involved in the crash was stationary, with its trailer entangled with the detached cab of the first vehicle.

 

 

A male victim, the driver of the 18-wheeler, who had been thrown from the cab wreckage and was found unresponsive and in critical condition. The rescue team administered CPR and used an automated external defibrillator (AED) in an attempt to revive him. However, despite their best efforts and the support of medical personnel from Chonburi Hospital, the man succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

 

Initial reports suggest that the 18-wheeler driver, lost control, veered over the central reservation, and crashed head-on into the side of the other lorry’s trailer. However, the exact cause of the crash remains under investigation by local authorities.

Traffic police are examining evidence from the scene, including skid marks, vehicle damage, and potential CCTV footage, to determine whether speed, mechanical failure, or driver error contributed to the crash.
