Visa Options After Work Permit Cancellation

OK. So the permission of stay which was originally until November 2026 is still valid or should I must leave the country 13th of April? If I must leave the country and re-enter. How many days will I get?

permission to stay cancels same day work permit does.

Thanks for the reply. Just to clarify again: I had a visa non immigrant B until this Tuesday.

It was cancelled and I got an extension of 21 days until mid April 2024.

 

The agent at Chang Wattana who told me that I will have to leave the country.

 

Will keep you updated.

The way the 7-day extension works, one must leave once you get one - no other extension possible, after that.  Hopefully the 21-day version from the BOI is different - but do let us know your experience.

True, but you can get a 7 day extension if you apply and pay for it before the final date.
The OP stated that he got a 21 day extension., because it is BOI.

Currently 60 days visa exempt. But they are considering changing back to 30 days.
You can book an appointment outside to get the first non-o marriage, but because of the evisa system then you should expect to be outside country for at least a week if not 10 days.
That would cost you for hotels etc.

I went out and returned visa exempt, and will be going to try and get the non-o marriage next week.
However its going to be in Hua Hin and I think they have extra requirements on a foreign marriage certificate, even though I have the Khor sor 22. I checked with Chaeng Wattana and would have been ok.
I have to see how bad the requirements may be in Hua hin immigration.
If they are OTT, then i am going for a visit to Uk in May and can get the non-o there if necessary.

He almost certainly had a Non-B visa, which he used until he obtained an extension based on work permit.

You are correct that, by this time, the original visa has expired.

Update on my application for the first 90 day Non-O.
For others reading, i explained earlier that I was clearly told at Chaeng Wattana and at Hua Hin that I cannot go to a Non-O marriage after a work permit. I have to go out of country.
However I am advised that agents can do it for a price.
I went out of country and came back in visa exempt and have now succeeded today Friday with an application for the first 90 day Non-O here in Hua hin and can report the following.
The application is under review now until 22 april. Note Songkran holiday is part of the 17 days.
I trust the following may assist in preparing you or others for what may be required. 
From what I understand, its not the same at all immigration departments.
1. I went on Thursday 3 april to Hua Hin immigration and was told there are a lot more declaration forms to complete than I understood from the three checklists that I had from Immigration online, Chaeng Wattana and Hua Hin in person.
Lots of paperwork already, and even more to figure out !
Then I needed a witness, see note 5.
I had to give up, go home and reboot for a try the next day.
You must go find out at the immigration offiice precisely what forms they need, and try to find out anything not on the checklist. Some are new and not on the checklists.
Make sure that you comply with everything on the checklist.
The following notes concern extra things that may not be on the checklist, or requirements that may not be clear.
2. For an overseas marriage they accepted the Khor Ror 22 from amphur, togerther with the overseas marriage certificate without any extra legalisation of the overseas certificate - because I had the Khor Ror 22.
However the Khor Ror 22 is only valid 60 days. 
Mine had just lapsed and we had to go out and get a renewal, 
fortunately I was told that the renewal can be done at any amphur. We had ours originally registered in an amphur 70 km away, but got an update at the local Hua Hin office quickly without any need to resubmit anything. 
At the amphur, we just had to show original 22 document from before, Wife ID and house book. However , it was a trip out and back to immigration.
My situation is only related to an overseas marriage and family registration Khor Ror 22.
3, When we got to see the officer, because my 22 was registered in another district they required my wifes house book there, as well as the house book in Hua Hin. 
Another disruption, she had to go home and get it.
If you are married in a different district than where you are currently living, then this may apply and also result in similar requirement and questions.
4. Because I had a work permit before and this was the first application, they wanted the company details and my work permit etc. I explained that the work permit had expired and my passport showed visa cancelled but they still wanted the copy of work permit, and the record of cancellation Bor Tor 53.
I had the work permit copy but not the 53. Had to contact company to get it. Luckily I got it emailed within an hour. Stiil had to go out home and back again to immigration.
5. This was my first application, they wanted evidence of source of the income the last year as well as the bank statement showing over 400K.  I already expected this and had the company annual certificate for salary and tax that they asked for (over 400k Salary paid). Then I also had copy of my tax return and receipt that cleared all the hurdles on this. 
Cleared this one quickly for a change. Thankfully., 
6. When I had tried submitting the day before They required a thai witness as well as my wife. This resulted in a lot of head scratching because we have only been in the area about 2 years and do not know very many people as good candidates. The few friends of my wife work during the day. Later I managed to go see an expat I know from the village who has a thai wife and luckily she was ok to help the next day Friday.
Although she had to do two visits because we had the intial problems and then agreed to call her again when we thought ok. 
The witness had to provide Thai id and house book.
When they spoke to the lady witness, they asked how long she had known us,
Fortunately it was about 2 years and they accepted this as ok.
7. They wanted 2 copies of everything and every sheet signed. 
Yes, I am serious. Even the witness ID and house book.
8. We accomplished the worst of this in the one day even though back and forth a few times. 
The officer dealings with us was very helpful and professional. 
Its so frustrating for us. He must know it and see it many times. 
Afterwards I think it appropriate to pay compliment for his patience, understanding and the clarity he gave us for what was required.

All for permission to simply live with your Thai wife.  It's insane. 

I am glad you made it over all the hurdles - including things which are clearly not relevant to whether you 1) have 400K in the bank, 2) Your marriage is de-jure and de-facto.  Also, glad to hear your I/O was not rude to you or your wife.

Thank goodness I am over 50, and will never have to go through a similar rigamorole, again.

but i did not comment. Perhaps i should so you can understand.

The reason that i am doing the marriage visa (first time) is three fold.

1. To start a non o retirement again i would have to start from scratch and get the first outside unless i pay an agent.

2. I can get the marriage visa direct from a visa exempt entry without getting the first non-o outside.

3. I am expecting another job later this year and getting a work permit can be done here from a marriage visa, without having to go out for a non-b.

Doing that has a lot lot more requirements and i would likely have to be outslde for several working days because of the new stupid visa processing. requirements
