Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet has announced that Preah Sihanouk province will become the country’s main logistics hub, with a $1 billion investment in its deep-water port.

Speaking at the inauguration of a new school building in the province, Hun Manet urged local residents to prepare for economic opportunities that the transformation will bring. He emphasised the need for a skilled workforce, encouraging young people to focus on education to support the region’s growth.

Preah Sihanouk currently hosts nearly 4,000 factories and businesses, employing over 127,000 workers. The province also has 12 special economic zones, five of which are operational.

With this investment, Cambodia aims to strengthen its role in regional trade and logistics, positioning Preah Sihanouk as a key economic driver for the nation’s future.
