Budgie in the wild?

My wife spotted this in our garden and it looks like a Budgie to me!

Can anyone confirm - I know they are not indigenous to Thailand

We live in the Baan Amphur area near Sattahip

If so, then it's a released or escaped pet, and not native to TH.

Saw one flying wild at our home in Bangkok about three days ago, was making a noise.

I rescued a budgie during a very heavy rainstorm some years ago. It obviously was on its last legs and would have died in those conditions but recovered and stayed with us a further 6 years.

 

I might well be very wrong but I doubt they can survive here, especially alone as they're birds that live as a flock.

 

Of course, our bird needed a companion so I bought another budgie. The first budgie died after 6 years so I bought a young companion for the survivor ......... looks like it'll be a continuing saga 🙂 🙂. But I like having them around - they're a reminder of my grandad who was a keen budgie keeper.

Yes, my concern is that it won't survive, so good you were able to rescue one.

My Dad kept Budgies and taught them to talk, great little characters, so I have fond memories of them.

I know of a flock that survive in Glasgow (Scotland) and apparently escaped from a Monastery!

When I lived in Texas, I would often go to Austin an hour away from my home, and see many parakeets, budgies, parrots and other Tropicals in an area where many other native birds congregated, on a main street, Lamar Blvd, in trees where a health food store, jewelers, Starbucks, restaurants and other stores were. Last time I visited there, I didn't notice any so the winter might have driven them south or they succumbed to it.
