CW: O Extension Turnaround Time

Since forever I'd submit my extension paperwork well ahead of the expiry date. I had always got the extension back in hand on the date of expiry.

 

My last extension was different. The IO wanted to give me a date that was essentially a three week turnaround.

 

Drama ensued, but I'll spare you that.

 

She asked if we had plans over New Year (we did).

 

I ended up picking up the extension as always, with drama.

 

 

My question is simply is this a thing now? Is the turnaround 3 weeks OR on expiry date? I now must plan for both of course 🙄

FYI I've now picked up my extension with no bank book update two years now. I'll still have it in hand for another three years just because 😅🙄

Don't understand why any drama.

Seems that you applied for extension based on marriage.

That has an "under consideration period" 

The immigration officer will stamp a date for you to return for final stamp.

Has nothing to do with expiry of current permission of stay. 

 

In regards to bankbook to show the 400k in account......

The funds should remain in the account during under consideration period.

Yes, of course the funds remain. I was simply stating that they again did not take my photocopy update nor even look at the book.

 

As for the issue - I'd explained clearly for over a decade the return date was the date of expiry. Period.

 

Last extension she at least wanted to make it three weeks from the date .

 

Drama was this was inconsistent with the past decade plus of extensions. Question is are applicants now being given three weeks as standard procedure

There are numerous threads regarding return date including CW specific.

30 days is common.

The immigration office at Chaengwattana has used 21 Day under consideration stamp for marriage and raising Thai children for quite a while now.

AND

They did away with the old update your bank book when you go get the extension inked in policy a good while ago as well.

You don't leave your passport with them, you come back in that date to get the year inked in 

Most likely, she asked about travel because of you were leaving the country on the u/c stamp you'd have to have a new rentry permit good only for that stamps validity

You'd have to be back in the country in time to go back and get the year inked in.

Never knew that. Last year, I applied in early May and was under consideration until my expiry date on 10 June 2024. (Waiting period of over 30 days)

 

Returned on 10 June and no bank details needed. Extension successful.

You've pretty much confirmed my December experience .

 

So, when I go in I should plan for two potential dates. The date of expiry (hopefully) or three weeks.

 

The drama was something related. Nothing you'd ever guess. Don't really want to get into it.
