Trump’s immigration ratings turn negative, Post-ABC-Ipsos poll finds

"President Donald Trump’s approval ratings on immigration, relatively strong in the early weeks of his second term, have dipped into negative territory, according to a Washington Post-ABC News-Ipsos poll, a sign that his administration’s hard-line and, in some cases, legally dubious enforcement tactics are losing public support.

A majority of Americans, 53 percent, disapprove of Trump’s handling of immigration, with 46 percent approving, a reversal from February when half of the public voiced approval of his approach. Negative views have ticked up across partisan groups over the past two months, with 90 percent of Democrats, 56 percent of independents and 11 percent of Republicans now disapproving of the way the president has managed one of his core policy issues.
The findings buttress other recent polls that have tracked falling approval ratings for Trump on immigration, though he still draws higher marks on the issue than on other matters. They come amid mounting public frustration more broadly over his presidency as it closes in on its first 100 days, which have been marked by a blizzard of unilateral actions sometimes violating the constitutional bounds of presidential authority.

Can you just post the link and not half the article. The majority of those polled hardly represents the majority of Americans as stated.

Should of said majority of those polled to be precise.

Leftist poll

So you'll feel better about similar findings from a recent Fox News poll?

Fox News Poll: The first 100 days of President Trump's second term

April 23, 2025

...

"Trump receives his best marks on border security, as a 55% majority approves. That’s the only issue where his ratings are in positive territory. On immigration, a record high of 47% approve of Trump (48% disapprove), [more disapprove than approved] while a new low of 38% approve on the economy (56% disapprove). His worst ratings are on inflation (33% approve, 59% disapprove), followed by tariffs (33%-58%), foreign policy (40%-54%), taxes (38%-53%), and guns (41%-44%).

Overall approval of Trump’s job performance comes in at 44%, down 5 points from 49% approval in March. That’s lower than the approval of Joe Biden (54%), Barack Obama (62%), and George W. Bush (63%) at the 100-day mark in their presidencies. It’s also lower by 1 point compared to Trump’s 45% approval at this point eight years ago.

Some 59% of voters are unhappy with how things are going in the country. That’s an improvement since the end of former President Biden’s term (68% dissatisfied), but worse than four years ago at the beginning of Biden’s term (53% dissatisfied). It’s also worse than the 100-day mark of Trump’s first term (53% dissatisfied)."

That is of course always the case.

Hardly needs to be said.

And just like that, the left fell in love with polls again. How cute.

When you have separate Washington Post and Fox News polls coming to the same finding that more Americans now oppose Trump's immigration and deportation policies than support them, that's usually a pretty good sign to take heed.

The wording of the article said majority of Americans not majority polled.

Huge difference in wording presentation. Deliberately done of course.

Ring any bells?

Before the election it was common on here to ridicule and label anything fox as Murdock propaganda.

That's from a fox news poll taken today.

You still don't know how polls work, or want to be obtuse on purpose?

I have a cherry tree out back. Care to pick some. Polls tend to work how the pollsters want them to.

This is the most silly kind of nitpicking. As though the point of polling is to measure the opinions of a selected group that has no significance beyond that. Pollsters claim to be measuring public opinion. Is there anyone so ignorant who believes that they poll every potential voter in the country? I just went to Rasmussen's website and here's what it said:

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Friday shows that 47% of Likely U.S. Voters approve of President Trump’s job performance. Fifty-one percent (51%) disapprove.

Is anyone going to claim that Rasmussen is trying to skew the relevance of its polls in favor of the Democrats  by not explicitly noting it's just a measurement of a group of people and nothing more?

Quite sure that the disapproval votes are going to rise and rise.Trump is on a wild ego trip , just like his buddy Putin and Netanyahu, and Vance is just as bad. America is sadly in a very bad place.

Ego is all that counts for Trump, and it has been like that for since he was born, but the older he gets, the worse it gets

isn't ABC the flagship under which The View is broadcast? They must have polled Whoopie and all of her cronies...

Isn't Fox News the same Rupert Murdoch-controlled right-wing propaganda network that spent months promoting and echoing Trump's false claims about having won the 2020 presidential election and bogus voter fraud claims... only to later end up paying a record $787 million legal settlement to ballot machines maker Dominion Voting Systems?

"Dominion focused on allegations made between November 2020 and January 2021 by hosts Maria Bartiromo, Tucker Carlson, Lou Dobbs, Sean Hannity, and Jeanine Pirro. Guests who often appeared with these hosts included Trump attorneys Rudy Giuliani and Sidney Powell, both of whom have also been sued individually by Dominion in federal court.[a] During pre-trial discovery, Fox News' internal communications were released, indicating that prominent hosts and top executives were aware the network was reporting false statements but continued doing so to retain viewers for financial reasons"

It should not come as a surprise. Of course people will start to get angry as the impact hits home;

- Residential building projects slowed as  construction workers don't show for work

- Meat processing slows as slaughterhouses  reduce intake because there is a worker shortage

- Suburban  homeowners have to learn to do yard work now that juan and friends is no longer available

- Restaurant service deteriorates as Javier and  Haji are not around to bus tables and wash dishes.

No worries it will all work out once DeWayne , Shaniqua, Cletus, , Billy Bob, and DollyAnn show up to replace the missing workers.
