This is an excerpt from James Lee Burke's latest novel, "Clete". He predicted a leader like Trump way back in 1989.

" In my lifetime, I had seen numerous groups come and go. Their names change, but their membership remains the same - people who feel they have been left out.

They blame immigrants and women and gay people and Jews and Blacks and anyone else they can pick on.

Needless to say, most of them are not bright, and get chewed up and spat out by the rich people who exploit them".

Sound like anyone you know?

Sounds like that Texas joke that thinks the world is going to hell because blacks supported trump or Nancy pelousie and Kamala the third wonder of California

To answer your question it doesn't sound like anyone I know. Illegal immigration is what concerns most people from all backgrounds, not legal immigration, and certainly not women, Jews, gays  and blacks.

More relevant than the UK, anyway. One of the world's biggest suppliers of minerals and natural gas. We can feed ourselves

My Aussie pals used to get 30bht/AUD, now it's 21 .......  drop of 30% (manufacturing, minerals, food, etc)

I was getting 50bht/GBP, now it's 44 ...... drop of 12% (and we make nothing, and have nothing)

It seems the world doesn't value your country that much!

The last time your "pal" got 30 baht for the Aussie dollar was 15 years ago,at that time you got 72 for the GBP.

Been here since 2009, most I ever got was 52bht/GBP, last exchange I made (last month) was 45bht, lowest was 38bht (but for less than a year).

I freely admit my country is poop, but your country is less value poop.

Odd how in the past 20 years your country went from a place all foreigners (including me) wanted to live, to a place many Australians wanted to leave (without their pensions).

Don't shout at me, it wasn't my fault!

I do OK on a part Australian pension, plus investments. I am actually saving money living here.

Australia is one of the few countries that produces clean food.

At least I have a government that does not freeze pensions for the crime of living overseas.
