There was no "security breach". He carried items that weren't allowed, and they were found during the screening process as they should have been. Presumably these mortar rounds didn't contain explosive, or he's an even bigger fool than he already appears to be. It would have been nice to read an explanation of where he had gotten these and why he was carrying them.

It is possible to carry certain unique dangerous  items on a plane but you have to declare them. I had a chinese chopper and a machete handmade for me in the philipines one time and was worried I would not be able to bring them back to Australia so when I got to the airport I  declared them and they were  taken off me and I was told to collect them at the oversize counter upon arrival at Brisbane which I did no problem. So I reckon that if this bloke's items were inert and harmless he probably could have done the same as me.

Who are these people, and why are they so intellectually deficient and utterly mindless?

Right ?  I don't get all the hand wringing and being upset over some scrap metal. I think its more intellectual dishonesty so the story fits their narrative.

Since when was it forbidden to have old empty war relics??? Rusty things that many collectors keep in their homes for show!!! Dear God so much crap we have to endure from ignorant "officials" that have no clue!!! This is nonsense!  😫😫
