Thai police have arrested two administrators behind illegal online gambling websites, seizing assets worth over 10 million baht in a major crackdown that could lead to further high-level arrests.

In a press briefing at Nakhon Pathom Provincial Police Headquarters on 14 May, authorities announced the arrest of seven individuals connected to two gambling websites, pananthai and play.surinam888, both reportedly operated from Mueang District in Nakhon Pathom.

The suspects include 30-year-old Mr Karakot and 24-year-old Ms Sasiporn, who are believed to be the primary operators of the illicit platforms. Investigations led to arrest warrants being issued, followed by coordinated raids on 10 locations: four in Nakhon Pathom, five in Bangkok, and one in Chonburi.

Seized items include:

• A red Ford sedan and a grey Ford Ranger pickup truck

• One 9mm handgun with 40 rounds of ammunition

• Four desktop computers, four laptops, five routers

• Two mobile phones and one iPad

• 17 bank passbooks and two ATM cards

• Various personal items branded with gambling website logos, including tumblers, luggage, blankets, and t-shirts

Seven other suspects have also been identified and are under investigation: Mr Thongchai (31), Mr Waratchathorn (30), Mr Charoen (28), Mr Noraphan (25), Mr Phuchong (33), Mr Thanakorn (22), and Ms Nathamon (26).

Mr Karakot faces an additional charge in Chonburi for failing to report a change of residence, while Ms Sasiporn has been charged under a warrant issued by the Bangkok Criminal Court. Authorities discovered the website servers were hosted in Nakhon Pathom.

Police are now expanding the investigation, focusing on potential links between the gambling network and high-ranking government officials or military personnel. Should such connections be substantiated, further arrest warrants will be issued.

The investigation remains ongoing. Authorities are determined to pursue all leads and bring all those involved to justice.
