Agent to do all the paper work selling a motorbike

Hey everyone! 👋

So, I'm a farang looking to sell my motorbike to another farang here in Pattaya/Sattahip area . Honestly, the whole transfer process sounds like a bit of a hassle, and I'm feeling more than a tad lazy to handle all the paperwork myself. 😉

Does anyone know of a reliable agent or service in the Pattaya area that I could pay to take care of all the legwork involved in the motorbike sale and transfer? Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated! 🙏

any service station to renew tax and inspect car/bikes will do all the paperwork for a small fee, you just need to provide passport/certificate of residence or yellow house book

Many small agents, even the Honda dealership on Thepraset Rd will do the green book transfer. They will go to the transportation office for you and hand in the paper work. Best to bring your customer with you at the time you hand the agent the greenbook. Some bill of sale get's filled out etc. You will have to get a residency certificate from immigration, as far as I know this is still mandatory and I don't think the agent does that for you.

You don't need an agent for this. It's incredibly easy to do yourself, unless you want to throw money out the window. Go to the nearest car tax office in your community. They'll assist you for a small fee.👍

The OP is selling. He does not need to change green books. He only needs to supply a copy of his passport and the title. He needs to sign in the right place in the green book showing it is being sold. I think you also need to show temp residence form from immigration. Give the copies of your documents to the buyer. Let him go to change green books. Make sure you date in green book when the sale began. So if the new owner does not register like he is supposed to, you would not be held liable in an accident. You wanting an agent is a waste.

Yes, correct. But, the green book needs to be changed and me personally, I want to KNOW it has been changed to the buyers name. The buyer SHOULD do the name change but I wouldn't advise just handing over the green book to the buyer signed and leave it at that. Why? You might ask. Because the buyer could very well choose to NOT change ownership in his name and drive the motorbike around with YOUR NAME still in the green book and registration. If there are problems while he's riding then in certain circumstances the owner may be liable. (Even if you have signed it) I would not trust the buyer to do all the paper work. I always go with the buyer to the agent and make sure they do the business in front of me, I get copies of the bill of sale etc. I would make the buyer pay the agents fee.

 

Remember TIT, make sure you dot your eyes and cross your tee's. Don't leave loose ends. Punters get in trouble all the time for not covering their Azz

So make a copy or take photo of your signature with the green book as proof. Ask for a sales receipt. You spending money to use an agent seem a waste unless you are adding the cost of the agent into the cost for your selling price. Why lose money? Plus time and effort dealing with an agent. You do not need them.
