Marriage Visa Renewal

I need some help from this forum. My Non-O visa will expire on June 20th.  On April 16th I went to Embassy of Canada in Bangkok to process my normal Income Verification as I have had in the past 10 years.  I was informed that the Embassy no longer processes these documents since April 1st 2025.

 

Wow, now what to do? I contacted my friend who also used the embassy to process the Income Verification.  He informed me to take my Pension documents (Government Letters of Verification) to Chiang Watthana or my November Embassy Income verification used at my thai bank for Account verification.

 

Immigration officer informed me that the document cannot be used as it is over 30 days old.  I was informed to take my Canadian and Us Government Income Verification to a translation shop and translate to Thai.  I did that and returned 2 weeks later to Immigration, waited in cue for 1 hour 44 minutes only to be told by officer that this is not correct. Must have official Embassy document!  Good thing the embassy gave me a copy of the official Government communication to Thai Department of Foreeign Affairs which was sent to Thai D.F.A as well as Thai Immigration specifically stating the change in policy and to assist any canadian citizen with income verification.  

 

This officer informed me no! cannot use, go to Thai Lawyer and get the document notarized.  Question, am I wasting my time here?  Has anyone gone through the same negative response from Thai Immigration?  Let me know the real process.

OP, damn horrible situation. 

It would seem at some point you will need to change to money in bank method. 

Can you deposit 400k into your Thai bank account?

Sadly that you did not know your Embassy was going to stop issuing income affidavit notaries on April 1st is a self-inflicted problem. 

 

It was on every canada/thailand related website on the interweb. Had you known about this and had you went to get that income affidavit paper from the embassy before they stopped issuing it you could have used it for the next 6 months after it was issued because that is how long their valid for.

 

The hoop jumping you are trying to do right now will not work, many people have tried it, and it does not work

 

Unfortunately what this means is the only way for you to meet the financial requirements now would be by one of two ways 

 

bank money method which means you would need to have 400k baht in a Thai bank account in your name only for 2 months before you apply for the extension,  

 

monthly transfer where you transferred in a minimum of 40K baht, each month, every month, for the previous 12 months before you apply for your extension <- meaning you would have had to be doing it all this last year.

 

What you might be able to do to buy yourself time to get your ducks in a row, would be to take the one 60 day visit Thai family extension you're allowed. That would give you 2 months to get the funds in place in a bank account so you could go forward with your extension after that.
